Doha: Mwani Qatar announced Sunday the launch of a new route between Hamad Port and the Port of Karachi in Pakistan. Hamad port welcomed today the container vessel Libra, marking the first call of the weekly direct service.

The new service is under PGS (Pakistan Gulf service) provided by Wan Hai line in partnership with Simatech Shipping.

It will boost trade between Qatar and Pakistan and offer fast and secure solutions for importers and exporters from both countries with a transit time of only 6 days from Hamad Port to Karachi and 8 days in turn. The Wan Hai and Simatech Shipping lines plan to operate two vessels of 1200 TEUs on the new route with one ship for each one.

Thanks to their extensive services, which include many ports in Asia, Europe and USA, exporters and importers will be able to ship their goods regularly to and from Qatar via Karachi.

Commenting on the announcement, Director of Hamad Port Abdul Aziz al Yafei said that "we are delighted to announce the inauguration of Hamad Port-Karachi new service. The new line will be an important addition to the previously launched lines, which are part of the strategy to stabilize domestic market and transform Hamad Port into a transshipment hub in the region."

He added that the "new shipping line provides more options for customers, exporters and importers from both countries, covering a new important ports from around the world, which will play an important role in supporting trade between Qatar and its partners of the world."

He also said that the launch of the new line comes within the framework of a comprehensive plan aimed at eliminating the intermediate ports by 100 percent, adding that Mwani Qatar as the exclusive operator of the state's commercial and touristic ports is implementing this plan in cooperation with its partners from around the globe, which will support economic diversification and contribute to Achieve Qatar National Vision 2030.

A statement from Mwani Qatar said that the new shipping line reinforces the objectives of the independence of Hamad Port by receiving containers and goods directly from its sources, within the framework of the Ministry of Transport and Communications plan aimed at strengthening Hamad Port status regionally and internationally.

Yeah the same country who hasn't included Pakistan in visa free country status, what hypocrites.

Hon Sir,

With due respect, there is no reason for calling Qataris ‘Hypocrite’. Why do you expect that just because there is direct shipping service, Pakistanis should have Visa Free travel to Qatar? We have such good relations with China, could you go to China without a Visa?

Due to sanctions imposed on Qatar, vessels going to or coming from Qatar are not welcome at Saudi, UAE & Bahraini ports. Direct shipping service between Pakistan & Qatar has become necessary.

There are only 6 countries in the world that permit visa-free travel from Pakistan to their country. These are Haiti, Dominican Republic, Vincent, Trinidad, Vanuatu Islands & Micronesia. For the record, Vanuatu and Micronesia are South Pacific Islands.

No other country allows Pakistanis to travel without an entry Visa. Some friendly countries such as Kuwait differentiate on the basis of your birth. I have UK passport, but I had to wait up to 2 hours at Kuwait, before I was allowed to enter because my birth place is listed on my UK Passport. UK nationals born in India were not held up.

Regrettably, reason is behaviour of Pakistanis themselves. For example

Looks like an unwritten "alliance (from Star Wars movies)" is forming - Turkey + Qatar + Pak!!!! Not my imagination, some stray folks from Turkey have recently suggested!!!!! I know the Indus has the luxury of manging numerous levels of ecological systems, stacked vertically, to cater for "fishes" of all sizes and colors!!!!!

Exactly. These decisions are made based on terror threat perception, economic development etc.
What if one of Doval the Devil's "last NA thug Afgan" shows up with a Pak passport visa-free!!!!!!!!

Where did you get this data from that Pakistan is the second most corrupt country in the world, according to nytimes December 2016 update Pakistan don't even fall in top 10 let alone number 2 in spite of looting spree by goonies. Next time when ever you start typing come with some facts otherwise stfu.

Qatar has introduced e-visa . You can get it on your computer in 24 hours . Its almost the same as visa on arrival . Visa reciprocation is mutual . Pakistan currently does not allow anybody to come here without a visa so how do you expect others to exempt visa for us ?

The e-visa is almost as good as visa on arrival.
I think Pakistan should start ferry, or even cruise, services from Karachi to Keti Bandar, Dubai, Qatar, Iran, Baluchistan coast/Gwadar. There's great potential for tourism and economy. To me, nothing beats being in a ship with endless horizons and sea breeze.
