Q & A about Bangladesh defence and security

Dude that is too much asking...:P

62.3 tonnes it weighs...will never work in our soil.

Singapore uses the Leopard 2. South East Asian terrain is similar to South Asian.

It can work on the Northern parts of Bangladesh :enjoy:

What is the model designation of these tanks? T-54 or other?

Singapore terrain is not similar to bangladesh terrain. Singapore is mostly made out of igneous rocks, while bangladesh is made out of mostly sedimentary rocks. Furthermore the gradient of the land in northern hills in shyletwill pose a problem for the leopard 2.

You are right about the geography bit . An objective analysis of the 71 war between India and Pakistan and the role of forces on both sides in hostilities in the eastern theatre of the conflict alone is sufficient proof of this. Lt Gen Jacob , under the auspices of Gen Manekshaw , devised his plan of bypassing major fortifications and selectively engaging Pakistani corps , which was so successful. That Bangladesh topography can be used to extreme advantage by a guerilla force is well known due to the several rivers and rivulets and is also well documented should you refer the book by General Jacob -- "Surrender at Dacca: Birth of a Nation" .

As far as the bold bit , I already remarked in my previous post that chances of an Indo-BD conflict are minimum because of the strong lines of diplomacy between the two . Furthermore we are no Israel to subscribe to the policy of " maximum collateral damage to teach a lesson" mentality , a trait while morally praise-worthy , is oft mistaken for a sign of weakness. Aside from International condemnation , there will be an intense opposition to any such move from amongst the Indian public too . Despite what bickering we see on PDF , there is a significant amount of public sympathy and friendliness for Bangladeshis in India even today.

Very unlikely given that Kanchen armour was developed by the DRDO for exclusive use on our Arjuns. No news that the tech was ever shared with any other nation.

1.Please, please! This fat old fart Jacob was a staff officer. The Chief of Staff. Staff officers don't make any decision. It is always the commander who orders the staff officer to implement/convey his orders/policies. All decisions were Arora's. Arora was an outstanding mily commander.

2. Arora was a humble quiet gentleman. In fact a perfect soldier-gentleman. But this Jacob guy is a bag full of air, trumpeting around everywhere. Because Arora is dead he has a free go. Doesn't even show the slightest respect and loyalty to his old commander who will live in India's annuls as a great soldier. We have a lot of respect for Arora.

3. But people have found him (Jacob) out. He is black-listed from attending most IA official or even retired officers' functions. We in BD didn't realize this earlier, but he will not be welcome here anymore.

Tank weight is not important, keyword is the ground pressure. A heavy tank may have less ground pressure than a lighter tank because of surface area.

what does this mean???

The Isa Khan' is currently under the command of the Commodore Commanding Chittagong (COMCHIT). About 1000 personnel serve at Isa Khan, which is one of the largest bases in the Bangladesh Navy. Isa Khan was established for the training of officers and sailors, as well as operating as a naval base. Several training schools are located here.It has nuclear capabilities.

What is the model designation of this mortar?

This is operated by BGB.

That is different. Singapore is a small city-island with well built roads which is suited for Leopard 2.

Yap, our army is trained heavily in guerilla warfare.

For Myanmar, lets be realistic...they outweigh us in quantity but in quality, we are definitely better. It will be an equal war and depending on tactics/strategies the result will be decided.

soft ground of BD is not suitable for mechanized warfare.

You are right about the ground reaction when a heavy load is applied on it. It can be calculated by Load divided by Surface Area of the tank bottom. A 48 ton tank will exert a 4.8t/m2 pressure on the ground if the surface area is 10m2, but this pressure will be reduced to 4t/m2 if the contact area is 12m2.

However, there are many other factors need to be considered when designing the surface area of a tank. Therefore, it cannot be enlarged infinitely to suiit the terrain. It is also constant for a certain type of tank. So, finally it can be said that a heavy tank will put more pressure on the ground than a lighter tank.

after all calculation best calculation to b done from following pic of BD
