What's new

Putin sends thousands of bombs to Assad controlled Tartus port to help his BFF Assad fight rebels

The bomb weighs more than 1000 lb, moves at supersonic speed. That's a lot of momentum. Even if it travels in a hurricane over a duration of a few seconds, it wouldn't miss the target by more than a meter.
Dont talk nonsense read about Norden sights.

Anyway, laser and TV guided bombs are 80s tech.
There are several generations of laser bombs and TV are replaced by IR with datalink and image recognition which is a different league.

GPS guided bombs are 90s / 2000s tech.
SVP-24 is not GPS guided bomb its computerized bomb sight. Something that US had in 1970-es.

Mobile targets like pickup trucks don't need bombs to destroy. Laser / TV guided missiles carried on UCAVs are sufficient.
UCAV have slow speed often u need to destroy a mobile target with jet. Besides Russia does not have UCAV.

Don't engage in a useless debate with @undertakerwwefan he thinks he is always right and rest of PDF knows nothing about military tech @500 sir

Cloud is made of water droplets. Water droplets have heat.

And your'e the developers of these systems on Russian jets, in fair weather simple optronics/TV guideness is enough for these laser guided/smart munitions from F-15E/F-16/F-18, FLIR are specially designed to guide these laser guided bombs/smart munitions in bad weather, if FLIR is not designed for bad weather, so tell me what is the purpose of designing FLIR system if it has no uses for any particular scenario @undertakerwwefan

FLIR is designed for night vision, not for bad weather. I quote.

JDAM is not intended to replace any existing weapon system; rather, it is to provide accurate delivery of general purpose bombs in adverse weather conditions.

Attack drones are much faster than mobile ground targets like tanks, mobile artillery, pickup trucks. They carry TOW / Hellfire size laser / TV guided air to ground missiles. Attack drones are best for taking out mobile ground targets. Bombers like Su-35, Su-34, Su-24, Su-25 are best for taking out static ground targets like bunkers, tunnels, ammo depots, command centers, power plants, weapons factories. Bombers only need to carry GPS guided bombs using SVP-24 blind bombing system.

Attack drones, recon drones, bombers operate as a network. They have different applications. Sort of like tanks, mobile artillery, mobile air defense having different applications in the same ground column.

Shahed 129 attack drones taking out mobile ground targets in Syria.

Su-35, Su-34, Su-24, Su-25 bombers taking out static ground targets in Syria with GPS coordinates provided by recon drones like Forpost, Orlan-10, Zala 421-16E5.

SVP-24 is not GPS guided bomb its computerized bomb sight. Something that US had in 1970-es.

The US never had GPS in the 1970s. SVP-24 is not a bomb sight. It is blind bombing system which integrates autopilot, GPS, digital ballistic computer, air data sensors into one system to automatically deploy free fall bombs on static ground targets by day or night in any weather condition without having the pilot sight targets visually. It's like M1 Abrams digital ballistic computer / laser rangefinger / crosswind sensor / automatic fire laying machine integrated fire control system except Abrams tank requires the gunner visually sight the target whereas Su-24M2 does not require the gunner to visually sight the target, only having to input the GPS coordinates of the target into the system. The bomb is therefore GPS guided and released by autopilot when the plane's location, height, angle has reached the computerized parameters to ensure a hit on the target.

Dont talk nonsense read about Norden sights.

Norden sight has limited accuracy due to pilot having to sight the target and manually release the bomb. When the crosshair is on the target, the pilot manually releases the bomb. A human has a 0.5 seconds lag to pull the release lever. B-17 flies fast. By the time the bomb has been released, the plane has flown dozens of meters away from the point of impact calculated by the Norden sight's analog computer. SVP-24 controls the autopilot to automatically release to bomb within 0.0001 seconds the plane is over the location calculated by the digital ballistic computer which ensures the bomb does not fall outside of 3 meters away from the target. SVP-24 is way more accurate than Norden sight.

Shut up its clearly states that FLIRS can also be used in bad weather as per your above quate @undertakerwwefan

FLIR cannot see past fog, cloud. GPS have no problem with bad weather.

And why then aren't using UAV/UCAVS IN SYRIA @undertakerwwefan

They use recon drones which provide GPS coordinates of static ground targets like buildings, tunnels, factories, power plants, ammo storage, command centers to SVP-24 blind bombing system. Orion E attack drone is not yet deployed.

SVP-24 is not GPS guided bomb its computerized bomb sight.

SVP-24 is blind bombing system. It's not a bomb sight. The pilot does not visually sight the target. The pilot enters the GPS coordinates of the target into the system, takes off, sleeps, autopilot flies the plane and releases the bombs, pilot wakes up to land the plane. Other than entering the GPS coordinates into SVP-24, taking off, landing, the pilot does nothing else except sleeping. SVP-24 and autopilot fly the plane and bomb the targets.

Why you're so stupid in astronomy IRFRARED WAVES USE TO SEEE THROUGH DUST CLOUDS WHERE THE NEW STARS BEING FORM AND CLOUDS/FOG ARE LESS DENSER THAN THOSE DUST CLOUD

FLIR can see.

This is Searcher drone that targets laser guided Krasnopol shells.

SVP-24 is a computerized bomb sight nothing more. Similar to what US jets had in 1970-es.

Satellite guidesness is not the only way for blind bombing, FLIR/Laser designation are also useful in bad/advarse weather @undertakerwwefan

this tech is old for the western standard, Predator UCAV using this tech since 90s @undertakerwwefan

Not it can't. Watch this documentary it's all explained.

Shut up so you believing some random pseudo scientists on YouTube most of YouTube videos are unverifiable/non trusted give me links from authentic sources like research paper that says IR waves can't penetrates through clouds/fog just shut up just shut the fcuk up @undertakerwwefan
They can be used to help pilots and drivers steer their vehicles at night and in fog

Russia had computerized bombing sight back in the 1970s. Assad army Su-22M3 fire control system has laser rangefinder in nose and digital ballistic computer which projects CCIP on a bombing display.

DhYJmbcWkAEvW_D.jpg

Su-25 in the 1980s has the same FCS comprising laser rangefinder in nose and digital ballistic computer.

SVP-24 introduced in the 21st century does not visually sight the target. The pilot enters the GPS coordinates and sleeps while the autopilot under the instruction of SVP-24 flies the plane and bombs the targets.
