These bombs are unguided but Su-24M2 has SVP-24 blind bombing system comprising autopilot, GPS receiver, digital ballistic computer, air data sensors that measure humidity, temperature, wind speed and direction etc. so bombs land no more than 7 meters from target regardless of day or night or weather condition.

SVP-24 is like X-Wing's targeting computer but more advanced.

SVP-24 is similar to CCIP and CCRP installed on US fighter/bombers in 1970-es. Its nowhere bear to guided bombs.

Russia as usual is 2 decades behind.

SVP-24 uses GPS. The pilot does not need to sight the target visually. The autopilot can fly to the target and drop the bomb automatically day or night in any weather condition.

Laser guided and TV guided bombs require the pilot to visually sight the target. GPS guided bombs like SVP-24 and JDAM do not require visual sighting of the target.

CCIP/CCRP use radar tracking which is more accurate than GPS, later GPS was added too. Nothing new about it at all.

SVP-24 requires very limited release envelope that makes plane very vulnerable, whole modern laser guided bombs have very wide release envelope. TV guided bombs can have datalink or image recognition which allows to drop them from standoff ranges.

Laser and TV guided bombs require good weather condition and sighting the target visually. GPS guided bombs like SVP-24 and JDAM can be dropped from heights above cloud in any weather condition. Safe from MANPADS.

From high altitude ur SVP will have low accuracy. U cant git moving targets with it. U cant hit multiple targets with it. Ur releasing envelope is zero size.

With thermal guided bomb u can have extreme accuracy, hit moving targets, hit multiple targets and have very big release envelope.

The bomb weighs more than 1000 lb, moves at supersonic speed. That's a lot of momentum. Even if it travels in a hurricane over a duration of a few seconds, it wouldn't miss the target by more than a meter. Anyway, laser and TV guided bombs are 80s tech. GPS guided bombs are 90s / 2000s tech. Both have different application. Mobile targets like pickup trucks don't need bombs to destroy. Laser / TV guided missiles carried on UCAVs are sufficient. Static targets can be taken out safely using GPS guided bombs carried on bombers.

oh just shut up FLIR can easily guided these bombs in bad weather with pin point accuracy, radar can also guides these bombs with a accuracy of several meters in bad weather @undertakerwwefan
