Putin Looks to Pakistan as Cold War Friend India Buys U.S. Arms

What if he is not looking for cash?? What if he is looking for an Ally?? Putin is looking for support he wont get from India, since now US dictates indian FP.

India didnt support them?Lol India was the only one that support from this part of the world.
Should I mention about US influence in Pakistan FP and economy?
And you might get the so called 'dictation' of US in our FP during last years when those diplomatic crisis begin

I don't understand why people think @SpArK is butthurt. I don't see many INdians here are butt hurt actually, but it certainly feels that Pakistani PDF think tanks are over celebrating!!

who has more money or will have more money to spend on it's military Pakistan or India???

Russia made a bad move.

The agreements signed on combating terrorism, not much significance

Well, all things considered the warm up has less to do with India and more to do with Russia's needs to compete with the US. But then again, it is a very Desi trait to think that the world revolves around them.

Sirji I dont think so.Russians have know the influence of West in Pak political circles. So they also knew Pak cant create a close relation with Russia until they sorted the western influence from Pakistan.
Give a message to us .That was the aim of Russians.

Lol from when.

I said this in a different thread, and now again saying.

Did we signed the Quadrilateral military treaty between Australia Japan US and India, way back in 2010, when the relation between India and US was much more sweeter because of Nuclear Deal , Obama visit to India and US support for India inclusion in UNSC.

Source: Modi's R-Day invitation to Obama will keep even India's traditional allies guessing.

It takes 2 to clap. and besides unless Pakistan gets its acts right visa viz terrorist, army and things like that we cant make a solid move. China is a selfish state and We don't mind guarding our borders with it.

@Horus with this fragile economy we can not build any strong ties with any country @Horus sir what do you say about this, in my opinion game is shifting but due to monetary problems we are still frozen or in other words still tied in a bond with WEST.

Fact of the matter is that Pakistan will never be able to move into the "anti US" camp, as long as Saudis and Americans are allies, which lets face it, is not going to change anytime soon. America can work Pakistan like a muppet via Saudi Arabia, it need not have direct good relations with Pakistan at all.

As for the thaw in Pakistan-Russia relationship, thats not necessarily a bad thing for India, as it will help our designs in Afghanistan and Central Asia. As for India-Russia relationship is concerned just wait till Putin's visit to India in the next couple of weeks 8-)

I wouldn't bank on your assumptions. If Pakistanis have learnt one thing over the past decade it is to trust no one. That includes Saudi Arabia, the US and its other so-called "allies". In fact, Pakistan's cosying up with Iran has angered Saudi Arabia. That's an open secret. If anything, the relationship between Pakistan and the US is at an all time low. Needless to tell you why.

Pakistan would do wise by not picking any sides. Let the world powers eat each other. Pakistan should remain neutral and only look after its interests. Pakistan has done good to mend ties with Russia. It will benefit both nations. Trade and military exchange is always a win win.

Pakistan doesn't care about Russian-Indian relations. Every country has its own independent foreign policy. Nothing new.

Russian economy is in trouble ; every Dollar counts
So A deal for 20 Mi35 helicopters is worth 200 million USD

Russia cant give away such a large sum

And Russia Pakistan relations will depend ONLY on Pakistan's purchasing power
which is quite limited anyway

Russians dont give soft loans

.
India has blocked SO FAR the Re sale of AL 31 Engines to Pakistan

India also delayed the sale of RD 93 for a few years

The Chinese J10 A/ B are powered by AL 31
Hence Pakistan is unable to get J 10 ie as long as they are powered by AL 31

Similarly in the past ie in the decade of 90s Russians were very kind enough
to India to turn down Pakistan's requests for Arms sales

Since Russia supplies Arms to China ; we have to also deal with Russian arms sales to Pakistan

It is a BUYER's market after all

You're very limited in your thinking. There is always more to a relationship than just the military aspect. Pakistan offers access to trade routes, deep sea ports and much more. Russian firms are very eager to promote trade and take part in multimillion energy projects linking Iran, Pakistan and Central Asia. That in itself is a huge incentive for the Russians.

Russia is a sovereign nation & will always decide according to her best interest we fully respect that
Russians want to ensure stability in AF-Pak region so it does not becomes a hot bead for terrorism which is actually good & we welcome that & besides Russians are not selling then some cutting edge stuff

Pakistan cozying up to Iran? That only happened during Zardari regime, a Shia, so his closeness to Iran was understandable, the moment Nawaz stepped in things changed for the worse, and at the moment Iran-Pakistan relationship is far from cozy. I don't know about other allies of the US, but Saudi and to a certain extent Turkey have immense influence over Pakistan, not just the establishment, but a good majority of the Pakistani people as well. And as long as these two are in the American/NATO camp, Pakistan will never be able to warm up to Russia.

America doesn't need the Pakistani public opinion to be on its side, for that it has it has allies in Saudis and Turks. As long as the Pakistani military is aligning with the American line, thats good enough for them, a few military toys and aid here and there will ensure that it never changes.

I agree, both India and Pakistan need to play both sides for our own benefits :enjoy:
