LAHORE: The Punjab Food Authority on Wednesday claimed to have sealed one of the outlets of California-based fast food chain, Fatburger, in Lahore owing to “spoiled meat and vegetables” present in their kitchen.

According to a Facebook post by the authority, Director Ayesha Mumtaz sealed Fatburger’s MM Alam Road, Gulberg branch owing to spoiled meat with a “pungent smell, rotten vegetables in cold storage, as well as rancid oil being used for frying purposes”.

Fatburger – a Santa Monica, California-based hamburger chain – opened its biggest flagship outlet globally in June 2013 in Lahore.

In January, Fatburger’s franchiser BIL Foods entered the Pakistani market in the midst of the fast food boom and opened its first outlet in an upmarket Karachi mall.

Authorities have become more vigilant after a teenage girl lost her life after having a meal from an eatery in Karachi earlier in February. Thirteen-year-old Kinza died due to food poisoning in District Central after she ate a burger from fast food joint Dilpasand.

Good! FatBurger Sucks!!! and is overpriced.

MacDonalds is the Best !

Shocked about KFC tho ..

I went to McDonald in Saddar Karachi and ordered a meal, I tried to take a bite and it smelled like 50 days old bread, I pressed the bun and it started to break like a powder bread...I called the manager and asked him what the "F" is you are feeding me he started swearing Sir fresh buns hain roz subha atey hain, So I asked him to come sit here and eat it, its on me and he started giving excuses abhi khaya hay...needless to say I threw the bun on the floor and walked out.

Like I said Pakistani workers, Pakistani owner, Pakistani management, Pakistani dont change only because of name of the restaurant.

Dayum!

Pizza Hut in Peshawar also got closed...

Everyone must be having second thoughts before going to these chains now!

Restaurants to be graded, grades to be displayed at gates: CM Punjab

LAHORE: (Web Desk) – Chief Minister Punjab has on Saturday announced that the restaurants all over Punjab will be graded on the basis of standard of food, security, cleanliness, quality of water etc. and the grades will be displayed at the gates of all the restaurants.

In a Facebook post on his official page, CM Punjab announced that the restaurants will be graded and the stickers of their grades will be displayed on their gates so that the people are able to select the restaurant in accordance with the quality of food and atmosphere that they provide.

The post said that the restaurants offering finest quality will be given grades A and B. A special monitoring unit at the CM Office will collaborate with the Punjab Food Authority will execute this idea.

Shahbaz Sharif’s official page said that the idea was given to the CM by a Facebook fan in a message on his page. This not only is a perfect idea but also a demonstration of the power of social media and the role it can play in the empowerment of the people. It clearly shows that even a common man can be effective through social media. And it also shows that it is an easy model for the governments to get public feedback on their governance and improve it accordingly.

The idea, if implemented, will not only allow the people to choose the restaurant according to their quality but will also augment an atmosphere of competition among the restaurants to offer best quality food and excellent atmosphere in order to keep their customers and win over the new ones.

The campaign must continue and at the same time an awareness programme must also be undertaken.

IN Lahore and Peshawar, restaurants have received some unwanted guests in recent days. These nosey, curious visitors, armed with a governmental licence of inspection, have been on a spree where they have sealed eateries and imposed fines for eateries’ failure to maintain the minimum expected standards of hygiene, freshness, etc, in the conduct of business.

The drive has drawn some support, and if there is a surprising element somewhere in the affair, it relates to the restaurant owners’ inability to anticipate and react to the crackdown against them.

In the Punjab capital where the campaign to clean up the mess at the eateries is most pronounced, the Lahore Restaurant’s Owners have, finally, decided to challenge the burgeoning — by some accounts intimidating — presence of the Punjab Food Authority (PFA).

The restaurant owners have built their counter-argument around familiar themes. They point out how officials can often overstep under the cover of the authority invested in them; and since this is about food and Lahore, the refrain about how ‘negative’ action can earn a bad name for the city’s culture has been easily invoked.

Yet more raids continue to be reported and the officials speak of expanding the PFA’s raid-and-seal operations to other towns in the province.

There is considerable merit in the urge to clean up the act at restaurants. The images and the stories emanating from these raids at eateries add to this urgency and to the calls for carrying on with the effort until some kind of basic hygiene and other standards are established, making eating out a less hazardous event than it appears now.

Publicize these bas-tards as much as possible so that people get sensible and stop wasting their money on these filthy foods. As long as these M***** F****** do not suffer a huge financial loss, they will not improve.

All hail Ayesha Mumtaz, a woman among the corrupt men who has taken the bull by the horns and smacked it to the ground. PDF needs to support her. Those @$$holes are doing negative propaganda against her because their pockets and butts have been hurt by her.

She is better than a million corrupt men who would sell their mothers for some scraps.

These shameless restaurant owners do not accept that they are selling filth to it's customers.
Really shameful...

Really shameful...

Well if these restaurants can be burnt for Toheen-e-Risaalat then why not for poor hygiene? Burn this filth to the ground.

Well if these restaurants can be burnt for Toheen-e-Risaalat then why not for poor hygiene? Burn this filth to the ground.

Burning is not the solution.
These owners should be punished and made example, so that all who are involved should stop this.
Heavy fines and jail time for owners will do the trick.

Good move, better would be to break a kukkad shukkad at a dhaba on highway. One question, the veg item in the pic looks like lettuce. Is it locally grown or imported?
