Gearing up: Spirit of October 2012 lacking at PTI camp

LAHORE:
On the eve of the Azadi March, the spirit of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) supporters at Zaman Park seemed dampened.

Expansive tents housing hundreds of supporters, including about 50 women, were devoid of a charged-up atmosphere.

Fiza Zeeshan, senior vice president at PTI’s Lahore women’s wing, claimed the road barriers and the humid weather were responsible for the lack of excitement. “It is extremely hot and it is difficult to sit out in the open,” she said.

She claimed that thousands of women would join the march once it started.

PTI workers have been making arrangements for setting up the camp since Sunday. The eight ‘mobile toilets’ set up at the camp may have facilitated the activists, but they have also become a source of stench.

Tanzeela Imran Khan, the PTI’s Lahore women’s wing vice president, claimed that the real challenge facing the PTI supporters was the misinformation. “The problem is that when you are camped outside amongst hundreds of people, it becomes all the more difficult to verify news coming in.

False news about an apparent deal between the government and the PTI is killing the spirit,” she said.

The PTI seemed satisfied with the security arrangements in and around the camp.

However, they could not prevent the skirmishes between PTI and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz supporters, whose rally passed in front of the Zaman Park.

The provincial government placed hurdles, including containers, to block roads leading in and out of the city. However, the PTI supporters said that such steps would not stop their long march.

For Muhammad Kashif Butt, the PTI’s youth member from Badami Bagh, all obstacles were surmountable, including the apparent shortage of fuel. “We have already stored fuel in anticipation of the artificial shortage in the city over the past few days,” he said.

Some PTI supporters seemed concerned with the Pakistan Awami Tehreek’s decision to join their party’s long march.

Ali Tahir, a resident of Thokar Niaz Beg, said that PTI supporters were debating whether or not to join hands with the PAT.

“It was Tahirul Qadri party who joined the PTI’s rally and not the other way around,” he said.

'Azadi' march: Nisar inspects security arrangements in Islamabad

lol whata slapped by Kashif Abbasi in live program on the face of Marvi Memon.

PTI official Ali Zaidi said "Lahore court bataye Ayeeni aur Ghaeer Ayeni March kya hota hey?

Marvi Memon said to Kashif Abbasi: "Kashif aap batayeen... inko" (She thought Kashif comment in PML-N's favor)

Kashif Abbasi said "Woh jo ye (PML-N) karain tu Ayeeni hey koi aur karay tu ghaeer ayni"

HAHAHHAHAHA Marvi Memon as usual stupid face LOL ....

Waseem Badami said "lol Kashif Marvi samji aap unkay hak may jawaab deenagy hahahhaha"

they are going pretty slow. govt has decided to give all parties a free hand which is a great move for both parties as people like qadri wanted to create bloodshed but will not get a chance now as they wont face blockages. Army has also said that any voilent elements will be punished severely so this should be peaceful.

However I am still unsure what will they achieve in the end. Will they ransack the parliament or will they just keep sitting for months to come? I really really hope imran doesnt use that container. I criticized Qadri for his container usage and i will not spare imran from it either.

The COAS did well to avoid any direct involvement or openly taking sides in a purely political matter. The politicians are at fault for meeting him in the first place. IK is at fault for demanding resignation of an elected government. The government is at fault for not having the political wisdom to defuse the situation. TuQ is just a mullah-for-hire as usual.

All of them are behaving like selfish jackasses.

(It would be even better if "angels" were not fomenting all this ruckus to begin with, but that is obviously too much to hope for in Pakistan.)

I think the govt is taking a lenient hand with PTI. There will be talks and in the end, PTI will settle for a lower demand.

But TUQ will create a ruckus and things might go out of hand.

Ch Nisar orders ISB Police to remove containers ............

Just now on TV, all roads to zero point being sealed.

TuQ/PAT is best dealt with a good old laathi charge, and they'll be all set. :D

Seriously, though, the best thing I am hoping for from the present situation is a tripartisan effort between PMLN/PTI/PPP to come up with an agreed upon set of reforms for the next elections. That will be the best thing they could all do collectively for Pakistan.

Agreed...Qadri needs to be dealt with harshly, but in a clever way. Sadly, the construction workers don't have enough mental capacity to do that.
