PTI to commence Hydro project 20,000MW electricty in Nya Pakistan

Since when speaker has started talking about govt schemes...hope opposition parties condemn this behaviour..

I never endorsed this and have discussed it on other threads but is this how you going to defend Pti ?? lol

oh please A Speaker is the Speaker in the Assembly, outside he is entitled to do whatever he pleases... party or constituency politics...

he is speaker of the Assembly in the Assembly to maintain the order in the Assembly.

How is the KP Government going to achieve this? Consider the 2012-2013 budget:

... The Punjab will get Rs 576.9 billion, Sindh Rs 324.4, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Rs 191.8 billion and Balochistan Rs 110.2 from the federal taxes. ...

Keyword being 10 years, he said they will do it over 10 years. One thing Imran Khan does way better than Nawaz Sharif and thats despite NS being a business man is that Imran Khan can tap into a lot of foreign investment and donations, just look at the massive scale of his campaign and he did that without spending a dime from his own pocket. If he has guys like Bill Gates calling on him to sponsor polio eradication, expect him to raise a lot of money for electricity as well.

good news, every province must put in their share to fight this problem. KP can produce cheap electricity through hydro power stations and may be Sindh can do better in coal projects. 20,000 MW seems too much right now every MW is very precious .

I don't know that either. Even for a generation potential of the capacity of basha dam (4500 MV) estimated 1200 Billion PKR would be required. So approximately 5300 Billion PKR would be required for 20000MV capacity. Even if we take a very liberal approach of say 4000 Billion PKR and say that KPK spends her entire budget on constructing hydro projects, it would still require 20 years (4000/200). However, my sincere wishes for their success.

Private Investors are neither interested nor have the resources to fund the hydro projects. It is usually done through the funding of multilateral donor agencies (like ADB,WB etc).

You are barking up the wrong tree here. He did nothing wrong. Your question is irrelevant to the topic as well.

Nahi yaar. Imran Khan has spent millions out of his own pocket. Listen to the wonderful man explaining where he gets his millions from.

If the PTI institutes provincial taxes they could raise additional revenue needed to meet the countries electricity needs and make a tidy profit by selling the electricity it makes. However, it would be advisable for them to initially take care of KPs energy requirements first because the better the PTI does in KP the more likelihood there is of them winning a majority in the next elections.

The truth is that Pakistan can easily collect the money required to finish the energy crisis within a year.

A combined cycle natural gas plant costs about $1500 per KW of installed capacity. There are varying figures for how much of a shortfall there is in Pakistan but if I go by the highest figure of 8500MW then Pakistan needs to collect about $12.75 billion. If Pakistan raises its tax to GDP ratio to 17% (which would meet the countries budgetary requirements) and initially uses the additional 7% to meet its electricity needs it would have $16.8 billion to work with. The cost of the wells would be around $4000 each (as per the US EIA) and do not add much to the overall cost of the plant since the country should start by increasing production from already known conventional natural gas deposits as well as production of shale gas and can then expand into coal bed methane and tight gas deposits (all together these resources would meet all of Pakistan's energy requirements for well over 30+ years).

However, what I do not understand is why the country is investing $9.5 billion in a nuclear power plant in Karachi (1100 MW capacity) at a cost of $8500+ per KW.

What I would even like to see is Pakistan invest in solar power to meet peak energy demands particular considering the number of sun hours the country gets and taking into account how high our solar insolation figures are. It would meet our peak energy demands in an environmentally friendly way and instead of investing in costly battery banks simply have the country switch over to natural gas energy production when the sun starts to go down (which would save our natural gas resources) or instances where there is little to no sunlight (ex. monsoon season).

Pata lagta hai pehli pehli dafa assembly procedures dekhney ka moqa mila hai lol

20000 MW seems a bit far fetched, 3000-5000 MW within the next 5 years seems much more reasonable.

One big project of around 2500MW and others of small capacity are much more viable and they can be built quickly.

lol 20000 MW project
mark my word they won't be able to do it in 20 yrs !!
mou se bum tou hr koi mar leta hai !!

Imran Khan's PTI has taken a welcome step forward. The first thing we hear as soon as PTI comes to power is about a hydro project to generate electricity. This shows that PTI is genuinely committed to the welfare of the people and understands the importance of resolving serious issues faced by the nation.

Every provincial govt of pakistan have right to plant the project not above then 50 MW so if they are saying they have are planning for 20,000 then 50 multiply 400 Projects = 20,000 MW will be produced but You are going to start 400 Projects are you crazy or what if one project cost 10 million dollars then 10 multiply by 400 ..........4 billion dollars and where in the hell they are going to get 4 billion dollars?tell me that first All the PTI members have big mouth bla bla bla bla bla bla They have critized the punjab Govt not the federal govt so now its the time what KPK do? Come on imran khan acpt it you have big mouth nothing else even you can't keep the fonder members of PTI in the party. Ap Govt ka tu phir ALLAH hi hafiz ha
