The sixth edition of Pakistan Super League has been postponed due to rising COVID-19 cases among the players and officials involved in the tournament, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said on Thursday.

Abay yarr. All because of the pethatic management which didn't take COVID protocols or SOPs seriously. The same management which allowed darren sammy and wahab to join the teams when they breach they bubble. Millions of rupees lost and also the reputation.

in these covid times, its not a surprise and there was always a fear if any player tested positive that tournament may get suspended ...20-20 cricket is more like an entertainment where showbiz, media are more involved than other regular matches in between two countries. So securing bio bubble in next to impossible in country like Pakistan

Two world major tournaments was completed without such issues during the Corona time. It is all about management fault..

IPL 2020 didn't happened in India. That was the major difference.

Not a surprise. Pakistan has incompetent people at the helm of affairs in every department. They make wrong decisions. Probably the mangers thought that the security forces will also keep corona away. Allowing 20 to 50% crowd was a mistake. NZ has less than 5 active cases and they are not allowing crowd and in pakistan where millions have been exposed to corona and are getting exposed the crowd is allowed inside stadium . Probably they think that wearing mask is 100 % effective in preventing covid spread.
The ongoing surge in cases in pakistan could be due to the new corona variant spreading rapidly but who will do the genomic testing and to what scale???
Probably Dale Steyn will regret his decision.

After asking SO many people and calling in favours i managed to get passes for match between Karachi and Multan for tomorrow, my kids wanted to go to stadium and were so much excited as it was going to be their first experience, just to hear that PSL has been cancelled argh.

In other news, from Monday onwards my son's school is going to be 5 days a week with full strength (grade 9) .... he is saying dad PSL is cancelled but School is opening why? go figure

PCB just need to delay for 5 days, do vigorous testing and evaluate strategies and then resume when all come after quarantine and restart PSL from 10th March. Must have PSL continued, bring the PSL matches all to Lahore, Lahore is much modern, safe and much less corona cases than Karachi.

Thankyou Javed Afridi, Wahab Riaz and ARY Salman for breaching & breaking SOPs and Bio-secure bubble rights. Pakistan will suffer after this.

Due to Pakistani players catching Covid 19, the decision was drastically made to postpone the PSL tournament.

PCB organiser of the PSL was asked why it was postponed indefinitely with no dates for a resumption on Al Jazeera. He said the players are not in the right frame of mind to play cricket.
One of the commentators on BBC said the players are terrified of catching covid-19 in Pakistan and refused to play.
