well that could be quite subjective i am afraid
if Quran says that earth is fashioned as a carpet, no matter how you translate it.. i never will end up in a spherical form

Listen troll form across Radcliffe line, I have read the good book in it's entirety, it is not a book of science nor does it contradict science, it is a book about spiritual nourishment, values, legislation and signs ie the heaven and earth were ONE before the were split asunder, no you will not find Einstein equation for expanding universe, but rather signs of the glories of God's creation........Have never ever read flat earth in Koran, I suspect you are using false info provided by right-wing evangelical sources

Depends what context... from what i remember in that verse Allah is saying the Earth has been made hospitable for humans to live on it with ease... he's the use of carpet to reflect on that imagery... i heard it in a Nauman Ali lecture taking about it

. In another verse the quran talks about the physical structure of the planet as round and orbits...

Again if you do what most western orientations do take verses in isolation you will never understand the gist of the quran.

Actually the quran is very particular about themes and each verse had its object to relay a particular message... and within that theme things are describes with imagery that would convey that message.

PS. You can easily put a carpet on a curvature... but i think the verse you are quoting is till out of context. In over 1,400 years nobody has been able to find any contradiction in the quran... this includes the best minds in the world... but I'm sure a boy from a village in Pakistan is about to break that trend?

Pps . The quran main challenge to humanity still remains... produce just even one ayaa or verse like it... no islamaohobe has been able to do it in over thousand years... and believe me this famous challenge has been tried by many... you want to find the pearls of the quran... you have to learn the language and look for them. The quran does not open up to the intellectualy lazy

I am going to put a very simple example here...

Africans are black... its postulated because of heat and sun they are exposed to... Europeans are white......they don't need extra melanin in skin to protect from sun...

fine ... arabs are white... they live in deserts harsher than sahara.... ok ... I will theorize ... they migrated to desert from Europe or some other cold place... fine

than why after 12000 years of documented history, they are still white???? why have they not changed with their environment??

Africans living in America and Europe for more than 500 years .. well they are still black....

this is different races of same species...and we don't see them changing over 10 -15 thousand years of documented/ partially documented or discovered history..... and we believe than one species can change into another completely different and un-related species?


but picture is still even more complicated... evolution does occur .. human adopt.. u start hitting the gym regularly for 2 months ... u start building muscles.... if you are persistent enough you may even pass healthy trends to your off springs.... humans have evolved over centuries and mellinia.. so have other living forms ... but still racial structure from earliest documented history holds true today....
where are species evolving into other?????

Some people are stating irrelevant Ayah(s) from Quran. Please have some knowledge before you say something related to Quran.
Yes religion should be separated from schooling systems.
But Quran itself promote Sceince. The problem is with our representatives of Islam (Mullahs). They have not even studied Quran properly and impose it on people. Here I blame us the Muslims too. Why do we have to blindly believe them whatever they say we buy. We need to study on our own.
Islam doesn't hate the idea of science. Quran rather appreciate and promote it.
