What's new

Projected share of graduates with STEM* degrees across OECD and G20 countries in 2030 (KSA in top 6)

Our people (like the Chinese) will probably never understand Quality > Quantity.

Israel is ahead of all Muslim countries (including Turkey, Iran and Malaysia), however, they're still behind of Turkey and Iran when it comes to rankings with focus on quantity growth. That's why Saudi Arabia's future is neither "bright" nor "dark". It all depends on how you manage to utilize your advantages.

Until now, KSA has a very bad record. You already have the best educated work force in the ME region (possibly even in the whole Muslim world) but nothing remarkable happened so far. This is something what I don't understand. What happened to all the people who came to the West for education? What are they doing right now in Saudi Arabia? Why aren't they demonstrating on the streets? What's holding you back?

I wish you the best. I hope I'm wrong and you guys teach me better still I remain skeptical due to broken promises in the past.

SA population is too tiny, takeaway the immigrants, then Ireland will even have a bigger population then SA.

No way it can be 6th. Wealty parents will send their kids to western nations to graduate as wel

You should not even be in this thread with such ignorant and moronic posts. Where do you get your information from? Some local slum? No offense but what the hell are you doing?

KSA has a native population of approximately 25 million people. In fact I suspect that number to be higher as demographic numbers in KSA tend to be outdated and difficult to fully determine. Ireland has barely a native population of 4 million. KSA's population by 2050 is expected to reach 80 million if not. KSA has one of the youngest populations in the world. Almost 75% of the population is below 30 years of age.

Spare this thread from nonsense. There are enough of your likes on PDF. Stick to Indian/South Asian matters which you probably know much more about. At least I hope. Don't embarrass yourself more than necessary.

Thank you for making it easy for him to understand the reality, brother. However rest assured that his likes (found in abundance on this forum) won't understand anything. However it does not matter. The same people don't understand that the Arab world is home to the oldest civilizations and cities on the planet that were built by our world famous Semitic ancestors. The ignorance is enormous on their part. Science was basically created by our ancestors and perfected by them for millennia. Even during the Islamic age, Arabic was the equivalent of Latin during the Roman era and English of today in terms of lingua franca in the scientific community. To this very day most of the names of stars, galaxies etc. are of Arabic origin!

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Arabic_star_names

Imagine how the mighty have fallen that an aboriginal jungle dweller is writing posts like that! It is about time to get the house in order!

What's 500 years (let's say 800 years since the cancerous Mongol destruction of the most civilized city and empire on earth during that era - luckily that cancer was dealt with once and for all by us not long after - eternally grateful to Ibn Taymiyya (ra) and his wisdom on this front) of stagnation in 14.500 + years (Natufian culture - first sedentary culture on the planet and the culture that introduced agriculture) of incomparable recorded history? Not much. Interestingly, although not too surprisingly, modern-day Saudi Arabians show the closest genetic kinship to Natufian skeletons.

Recently a DNA study proved that modern-day Saudi Arabians (scoring the highest), Palestinians, Jordanians and Egyptians have the largest ancestral claim on the Neolithic civilizations that first appeared in Southern Levant.

Here are the DNA results from last year (2016)

Here is the entire report:

That's not even mentioning the fact that Arabia and the Arab world is the second longest inhabited area on the planet outside of Ethiopia.

So let them lick a certain part as Maradona used to say:

Use Google Translate if necessary.

@The SCC
Relax,my comment was not directed at Saudi arabi at all.

Thank you for the last link.

Demonstrating on the streets for what ? A other false Isis-revolution, the civil war, the complet destruction...

What happened to all the people of China who came to the West for education ? Why aren't they demonstrating on the streets to China for a wonderful democracy system ?

So why nothing ? Because it's too early. Because they are not ready.

The key is motivation. Ever wondered why most of innovations in war fighting happened during cold war? Things like super carriers, SLBM, MIRV, Laser, Space based warfare, Satellites, GPS, Hydrogen bomb etc etc etc. One word motivation. US and Russia were in a race and had to out do each other.

KSA is spoilt by choices for their needs. They have no motivation to innovate and hence no advancement. Whatever they need is available from elsewhere and all they have to do is put some petro dollars.

Yes but look at this forum. You'll see highly educated Saudis. Visit Western universities and you'll meet thousands of Saudis studying engineering, medicine, physics, chemistry etc. Where are these people now? Why can't Saudi Arabia use these people to achieve its goals? What are these people actually doing in Saudi Arabia? Do they have a job? Do they get financial support from the state? Why aren't they making innovative stuffs in KSA? They have the people, money and education already. That's what bothers me most.
I wish KSA would be a role model for the Islamic world but they're not - why?

Your thinking is more normative, ie how things should be.
What happens though is that unless there is a pressure, individuals and societies do not change or take paths which are somewhat risky or painful. Hence no gains or innovations.

It is remarkable that nature shows itself in similar behaviours in herd and in individual. Only a person who lifts heavy will have bigger and stronger muscles. Similarly, only a country which has a pressure on it will grow innovative ideas.

Are you comparing saudis society to chinese. Agreed china is not a democracy but you should not talk and compare with other countries until your ladies could do this without any fear.

I did not know that we measured the level of democracy with the size of Mini Shorts in cars and Bikinis on the beach.

Why not also the level to ‘Sodom and Gomorrah’ or Gay pride in the street. How I will explain to my little sister that her freedom, her equality with me goes through orgys ? ‘Woodstock free love’ may be ?

Goes to show the mentality of your closed culture where you could only see miniskirt and skin, but not the freedom of women with which she can drive, freedom to wear, freedom to roam alone, freedom to acquire skills like martial arts, freedom to wear and do fashion as she wish without being executed.
