Power and Principle: UNSC Reforms

I thought this thread begins with something related to security council. Currently I'm standing in somewhere in the pre historic civilization. I did't knew that to get security council membership you should have born 5000 years ago. I don't how the US, Britain, France and Russia will cope with this realization.

Dont have anything more to say about ancient Indian civilization, modern day India, the DNA samples, extinction etc, etc, have u run out of arguments, hence can we return to the original subject.

10 pages and it boils down to Indians don't think "it's fair"

Why are Indians so gung ho about getting into the UNSC? UNSC is a largely defunct organization. The organization that matters to get into are organizations that control resources such as the NSG, OPEC, NATO etc. All others are a waste of time. India needs to figure out how to obtain energy and other raw material resources at cheap rates so they can keep their economy growing. Gossip corners such as UNSC are useless for India's ambitions. The UN may not even exist in 20 years from now or become irrelevant. UN is a product of WWII and today's world is completely different from the WWII world. India - aspire for modernity, not defunct old organizations.

The UNSC P5 represents the so-called "great powers" in international relations.

Great power - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Which is why the UNSC continues to make the headlines, more so than any other organization. When the international media reports on issues like Iran or North Korea, they always talk about the P5+1.

India falls into none of these categories. Not one single P5 member has promised veto power to India, and even if they "somehow" manage to get that, they will still have to face China's veto. They should look elsewhere.

I think it's a bit of an inferiority complex, after years of being sidelined India is finally growing and there's a certain need for recognition. This means the trappings of a traditional great power. The UNSC defunct or not, is part of those trappings.

That should be the appropriate answer, that u dont care, the same way we dont care what japanese did with u,so dont beat the rhetoric around that Bose sided with japan or Germany, understood

Off course u were not a major factor inside Allied groups that propelled their victories, infact u should thank the American's that they saved ur back from invading Japanese forces, the rest of the Ranking's u brought r just vague.

In the summer's of 44 when allied groups were making advantage Japanese conveniently overtook Henan provience and reinforced their attack on Changsha in the Hunan province.Search operation Ichi-Go and the result u will find is a decisive Japanese victory.Changsha was captured in mid-June and the city of Hengyang by early August.Soon after, they further invaded the province of Guangxi, winning major engagements against Chinese forces at Guilin and Liuzhou by the end of November and successfully linking up their forces in China and Indochina by the middle of December.

The turn around that happened after that was never the contribution of Chinese,it was American's and all about American's.American's conquered Mariana and Palau islands,America won Battle of Leyte Gulf, where was China.

It were American's who conquered manila,It were Australian's who overrun Borneo,It was America who raided Kyushu, Shikoku, Honshu and Hokkaido.

Even the famed Chinese victory in Burma(according to u)was only possible because of the presence of American and British forces. It was the red army which captured Manturia,Sakhalin Island and the Kuril Islands.

All u had done is retaking ur position's at a time when American and Soviet forces had already broken the spine of Japan,ur contribution's were nothing more than wortless.

Ya my father also told me the same, the difference was the political term today is a reality,I know u r trying hard to ignore it,but its useless,u have to leave with it.

But according to you this has nothing to do with PRC since the government of the time was ROC and previously you said modern China only entered in 1971.

What a joke to claim that. You know who was more worthless? Even if what you said was true, the most worthless was France who surrendered in a week. But they got onto the P5.

None of them dominant over another, and that means no national character.

China exists for many reasons. 1.) we have a 5000 year history of occupying this current territory with generally the same homogenous culture for that period 2.) we have 1 dominant language and 1 dominant ethnic group and 3.) china ideologically represents developing nations fighting for industrial growth and is the largest socialist nation on earth.

india has no ideology to represent, no dominant, homogenous culture or language, and can't even say that the residents of india 5000 years ago have any relation to the residents of india today. India is not a nation-state, nor is it an ideological state. The Government of India is simply an external occupying force controlling several independent nations.

You cannot say we do Not have any Civilization, India is an Ancient Civilization, You only Know About Aryans But Have You Ever Thought about Dravidians?

Why cant I say the residents 5000 or 6000 years ago have no relations to present India?? We certainly share the same Identity, Although till british we had several Small Kingdoms, But to Fight against them We Stood as One, Just Like You had Your Quin Dynasty which Fought for a Single China than a Split Country, But that doesent mean Chinese came from Mars, would it??? We too are the same, We are not martians Either or We did not Bloom suddenly out of Nowhere, We certainly share there existence through us.... India's Existence is here to stay, No Matter You like it or not, We are here to stay and we will..... no external Force can Capitalize on our Diversity....The Main land Culture of China By itself is Inherited from India , so Chinas Cultural Existence needed the Existence of India...

This is false, most Indians today are made up of two pre-historic people(waves) that came to India 40,000 years ago and 60,000 years ago..

Gene study reveals Indian origins › News in Science (ABC Science)

India's different cultures are all variations of the same civilizations, some of them that are influenced by other cultures also, some not so much.

Han people I think are genetically very diverse also. They just took their name from a country call "Han" right?. Its as if Indians just stop calling themselves Punjabis, Gujaratis, etc, etc and came together and call themselves "Indian" taken from India.

China calls on UN members to work for broadly-based consensus on UNSC reform

China said late Saturday that members of the United Nations should work for a broadly-based consensus on the reform of the UN Security Council.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Ma Zhaoxu made the remarks in response to a relevant question.

Media reports had it that a recently-released declaration by some countries said most of UN member nations supported enlarging the council with new permanent and non-permanent members, and insisted tangible results be achieved in this regard during the Current Session of the UN General Assembly.

Ma said China held that UN member nations should seek for a package of solutions for the reform, on the basis of broad and democratic consultation among member nations to accommodate interests and concerns of all parties.

He said though some positive progress had been made since inter-government negotiations regarding the reform of the UN Security Council were launched, there were still serious differences within all parties over certain important issues about the reform.

China advocated that the more differences the member countries had on the reform, the more necessary for UN member nations to enhance dialogue and consultation, he said.

"Experience has proven that presetting results for the reform or forcing premature reform plans will not only undermine the unity of UN member nations, but also harm the reform process, which will not be in line with any party's interests," he said.

China is ready to maintain contact with all relevant parties, and make joint efforts with other member nations to push forward the reform in a way which can be conducive to safeguarding the overall interests of UN and the unity of the member nations, said Ma.

india can keep crying, but at the end of day, such a loser nation will never become a UNSC permanent member.

on the other hand, I would strongly agree to admit Germany to the permanent membership of UNSC.
