The Uttar Pradesh government on Friday told the Supreme Court that polluted air from Pakistan affects the air quality in Delhi, adding that the industries in UP have no role to play in the national capital's pollution.
A bench headed by Chief Justice of India NV Ramana was hearing a plea on air pollution in the Delhi-NCR region.
Senior advocate Ranjit Kumar, appearing for the UP government, argued that the state industries are downwind and the polluted air doesn't go towards Delhi. Follow Delhi Air Pollution LIVE Updates
Ranjit Kumar blamed polluted air coming from Pakistan's side for affecting the air quality in Delhi.
To this, CJI NV Ramana quipped, "So you want us to ban industries in Pakistan?"
Ranjit Kumar said that sugarcane and milk industries in Uttar Pradesh will be affected by the eight-hour time restriction.
