Jatiya Party Chairman HM Ershad yesterday said he would support if a 1/11 like government takes over on expiry of the present government's tenure.

Pointing to the standoff between Awami League and BNP over the polls-time government, he questioned, “What can we do if a 1/11 like government takes over?”

The former military ruler was speaking at a prize distribution ceremony at a city school.

Asked if his party would support that (1/11 like) government, Ershad replied, “Yes, we will extend our support to that government.”

The JP chief also called upon all political parties to dissolve their respective student organisations to stop anarchy on educational campuses.

Meanwhile, talking to newsmen in Pabna yesterday, Awami League Joint General Secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif rejected outright Ershad's assumption that a 1/11 like government would take over in future.

“Ershad's comment on 1/11 is aimed at gaining people's support. This is part of his party's strategy,” he mentioned. Hanif was visiting Pabna to attend district AL's meeting.

Ershad chacha should be more careful when talking to the press. AL wont mind sending him to jail anytime and for that they wont need to make cases up against him as there are already many. He is too old to survive even two days remand. Whereas now normally all opposition politicians get at least one week. Best of luck Ershad chacha and dont try to test Hasina.
