Windows as I also use it one my cell too, but 8.0 is not easy to use for users of previous versions.

8.1 is pile of dung. They destroyed the start menu. Stick with 7 until 10 comes out.

I have tried Debian, Red Hat, Fedora, CentOS, openSUSE and Ubuntu but the best desktop OS is definitely Ubuntu because of its good (not great) desktop hardware support. But if you are using hybrid graphics setup and latest Intel processor like me then hardware support is not that great in any OS. A lot of heating issues plus buggy proprietary GFX drivers cause a lot of headache. Then it is literally impossible for a novice user to deal with frequent bluetooth, wifi etc issues.

KDE, Gnome, Unity, Cinnamon all are great desktop environments and I switch between then from time to time when I get bored with one
