What's new

PMLN announce political alliance with Jahangir Tareen party.

I disagree that IK would have come into power
It is impossible for an outsider (perceived) to win in north Punjab or Sindh especially since both parties have been there for 40 and 20 years consecutively.
PTI would have never won beyond KP.

Lastly the country is corrupt from head to toe, those who have worked there know it not the diaspora as country was in good shape till early 2000s but went really bad last 10 yrs.

Pakistan will/may get cheap high return investments from countries due to it's large market size but it has no rule or future in economies

Pakistan will run on remittances like all other corrupt and poor countries of the world

Lastly no reforms will happen as military inc can't afford any reforms.

IK is done and dusted. That was decided back in Early 2022 things went abit out of control but we are seeing the end game now

After elections the goal will be completely silence him one way or the other.
So we should just forget about the investment potential of Pakistan. Have they given up on trying to achieve /regain some parity with India on a per capita basis? In the short term, it will cost them, but for the long term, all segments of the current elite benefit most of all, if the reforms are made.

It is hard to say when you are not trolling!?? Please don't be the El Sidd of this forum (I am not mentioning him--called him a troll plenty of times and he knows that).

Nobody can co-exist with the Establishment as long as Pakistan is a 'security state'. If Noon League would be stupid enough to put Nawaz Sharif as the PM, then another round of anarchy is coming up: Nawaz, like Imran, is not temperamentally suited to be on top but, HOPEFULLY, after the last three humiliation, Nawaz has learned some lessons.

@FuturePAF Happy (belated) 4th to you as well. There is a lot you have written in your post above and I need to digest that first. But, in general, I am with Zia ul Islam about your post: Imran is done and dusted--into the foreseeable future.
At this point it’s not about IK anymore. The impact he has made to the system and the psyche of the nation will echo for decades, and be seen as a crucial inflection point. Perhaps PTI can return under a new candidate for the PM job, but IK is now perceived as more as an idea for the idealists. His acquiescence is necessary to heal the nation, and for that I would hope they carry out the reforms.

It’s now about the reforms the nation needs to be competitive once and for all. The inefficiencies in the nation are so great that, even moderate but painful reforms can see the nation on the right track by the end of the decade, IMHO.

If the nation is back on track and growing in a sustainable manner, where the elite business interests cede ground, many people will be able to put the events of the last couple of years into a perspective that restores the image of many of the elite. Otherwise, Pakistan will see itself as another Egypt, with India’s hegemony accepted the way Israel’s hegemony is.

P.S. If reforms are not made, PTI needs to accept it needs to stay around, sit in parliament, rebuild, and become the real vocal opposition. If reforms are not made, then the economic crisis will lead to a political crisis in a perennial manner until something forces it to accept change. PTI will therefore get a chance to be back in power, if only as a safe and peaceful pressure release mechanism for the masses by “them”.

To Quote Albert Einstein; “We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.” PTI seems like the party most likely to espouse new ideas, if it ditches old habits and focuses on solutions and realistic mechanisms to achieve them. Time out of government should be spent recruiting top talent with experience and forming a more economic based platform.

I agree with your post's spirit! And I wish Imran Khan, realizing that the doors to his immediate power, are shut into the foreseeable future, redeems himself by joining the upcoming grand-alliance in some way even if through urging his followers to work with other parties to get away from the Security State paradigm, and by suggesting the needed reforms. Imran's rise to the topmost slot are shut into the foreseeable future. No point causing anarchy in the country. The upcoming setup will not be allowed to be the mayhem of the 1990s or of the past 14+ months. Will he do that? He has enormous appeal in overseas Pakistanis and also in the youth of Pakistan; that should be tapped into. Wise nations come together in crises like today's.

Yes.
More richer isn't always good
It brings in more questions just how north Korea and Myanmar don't want prosperity

Imran Khan needs to retire

The future is a group of rich people who can convince establishment that country should grow economically i.e IPP like Jehngeer tarin, Malik riaz etc. Just like how a group of rich Americans reshaped the country in 1920s

We don't need populous leaders spending huge amount on payouts at this stage of our national level when we are poor.

We need investment and capital for development not subsidies etc

Imran Khan confrontation with establishment will destroy Pakistan

Istihkam-e-Pakistan Party is busy building itself for the elections. 30 more MPA willing to join IPP. Total 130 MNA/MPAs have joined. IPP will target Punjab as their base.

Do you see the PTI returning to power in KPK? Not IK specifically, but PTI in general.

Secular parties should come forward and make secular Pakistan. We need this change

I don't think so. 'PTI' is being disintegrated even in K-P. I hear Pervez Khattak was a good organizer there but he too is not pro Imran anymore.
The idea that somehow Imran would nominate candidates for 'PTI' and run the hundreds of campaigns via You Tube, while Imran would be in prison or exile is an impossible idea. A lot goes into electioneering--a lot both on the election day and days before and after that. It is an impossible idea even if one were to accept that Imran has 70% personal approval rating in Pakistan.
