PM Narendra Modi urges other countries to lessen supply chain reliance on China

New Delhi, SEP 28 2020, 22:37

The Covid-19 crisis has shown that it is risky for the global supply chains to be highly dependent on any single source, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Monday, even as he tacitly asked the other like-minded nations to join India, Japan, and Australia in an initiative to lessen reliance on China.

“We are working together with Japan and Australia for supply-chain diversification and resilience. Other like-minded countries can also join this effort,” Modi told Denmark’s Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen during a virtual summit.

New Delhi, Tokyo, and Canberra launched the initiative to lessen China’s dominance on global trade and supply chains – in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic, which started in the communist country, as well as the belligerence of Xi Jinping’s regime in Beijing – not only along the disputed Sino-India boundary in eastern Ladakh but also in the South China Sea and the East China Sea as well as Taiwan Strait.

The trade ministers of India, Japan, and Australia had held a virtual meeting on September 1 and decided to launch an initiative to ensure a trustworthy, dependable, and reliable supply chain in Indo-Pacific. They had underscored the necessity and potential to enhance the resiliency of supply chains in the region in the wake of the disruptions caused by the Covid-19 crisis as well as the other recent changes in the economic and technological landscapes around the world. They had also called upon the like-minded countries to join them.

The pandemic following the trade dispute between the United States and China prompted the international community to weigh options for diversifying the global supply chains.

Modi told Frederiksen that the “events of the past several months” had made it clear how important it was to work together for like-minded countries like India and Denmark, which shared “a rules-based, transparent, humanitarian and democratic value-system”.

The two Prime Ministers on Monday agreed to elevate India-Denmark relations to a “Green Strategic Partnership”. They agreed on the need for strong multilateral cooperation to face the urgency to step up global efforts to combat the global challenges on energy and climate change and on a common commitment to the International Energy Agency, the International Renewable Energy Agency, and the International Solar Alliance, according to a joint statement issued after the virtual summit.

The Covid-19 crisis has shown that it is risky for the global supply chains to be highly dependent on any single source, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Monday.

Did he actually said that with straight face? The only thing which world can clearly see as to how pathetically prepared the two so called biggest democracies of the world are in dealing with such situations. China on the other hand not only quickly and efficiently dealt with pandemic but recovered its economic activity swiftly. God forbid if there is similar situation world has to endure, America cannot be trusted with global supply chain, as for India, it's a third world shitehole anyway.

This global crisis has only cemented further China credentials as world economic and manufacturing engine which can manage the crisis most efficiently then rest.

Who else is going to magically supply all the goods that China supplies and who wants to be left out of a 1.4 billion Chinese consumer market?

Over reliance on one nation isn't good for anyone including China.
I bet you didn't know that local governments in China have export targets and many supply factories free land, free electricity and cover operations cost including wages to meet those targets.

In effect the Chinese people are subsidizing US consumers and US businesses for the last several decades.
But these hard facts won't surface here on PDF none are interested in facts - only flag waving. :china:

Besides, automated manufacturing is fast becoming a reality and so low cost manufacturing by humans is not sustainable.

How do grateful Americans treat China?

Just like in history, white Americans were used to deal with the Native Americans who helped them.

300 years have passed, and the United States is still the same. It has not changed at all. It is so full of gratitude. Maybe in a few decades, the United States will invent another Thanksgiving China Day. :omghaha: :omghaha: :omghaha:

Did you know that the number of industrial robots in the United States is less than 1/4 of China's?

Asia remains the largest market for industrial robots with China using 783,000 units in 2019, up 21 percent. In second place is Japan with around 355,000 units - an increase of 12 percent, followed by South Korea with 319,000 units, up 6 percent. A newcomer in the region is India with a new record number of around 26,300 units - an increase of 15 percent. This means that the number of industrial robots in Indian factories has doubled within five years.

The USA is the largest user of industrial robots on the American continent and set a new record in 2019 with around 293,200 units - an increase of 7%. In second place is Mexico with 40,300 units - this corresponds to an increase of 11% - followed by Canada with around 28,600 units and an increase of 2%.
