Pakistan paid a huge price for its mistakes in Bangladesh and it's saddening that a major Muslim country split up into two parts like this.

How many such hollow victories does India have? The battle of longewala was indeed a spirited resistance which did blunt Pakistani attack with valor and sacrifice, especially with the aid of the terrain, overconfidence and stupidity of Pakistani commander and IAF. However, we have more incidents of bravery, valor and sacrifice from the much more recent aerial battle last year to Kargil battles back to 1965 when Indian Military was only a few kilometers away from Lahore when it was halted and repulsed back behind Indian borders.

And shame on India; 1971 was a war between East and West Pakistan; East Pakistan won and West Pakistan lost.....India simply exploited the situation and successfully because of the geographical distance between East & West Pakistan and due to India's location smack in the middle of both countries.
