Governor General Khorasan e Razavi province Ali Reza Razm Hussaini received the Prime Minister
MASHHAD (Dunya News) - Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan has arrived at Mashhad for a brief stop-over before proceeding to Tehran on a two-day official visit to Iran on the invitation of Iranian President Hassan Rouhani. This is the first visit of Prime Minister Imran Khan to Iran.

Governor General Khorasan e Razavi province Ali Reza Razm Hussaini received the Prime Minister upon arrival at Shaheed Hashminejad airport Mashhad.

During the visit, the Prime Minister will call on Iranian Supreme Leader Seyed Ali Khamenei and hold detailed consultations with President Hassan Rouhani.

Imran Khan will also meet members of the Iranian and Pakistani business community in Iran.

The Prime Minister is accompanied by Minister for Human Rights Dr. Shireen Mazari, Minister for Maritime Affairs Syed Ali Haider Zaidi, Adviser to Prime Miniser on Commerce Abdul Razak Dawood, Prime Minister s Special Assistant on Overseas Pakistanis Sayed Zulfiqar Abbas Bukhari, SAPM on National Health Services Dr. Zafarullah Mirza and SAPM on Petroleum Nadeem Baber.

Pakistan’s relations with Iran are marked by close historic and cultural linkages and strong people to people exchanges. Both countries are also members of the Economic Cooperation Organisation and Organisation of Islamic Cooperation.

The premier’s visit to Iran is anticipated to further strengthen the bilateral relationship between the two countries.

However, the talks are considered crucial amid regional tensions between nuclear-armed Pakistan and India, and the vital role that Iran could play to resolve the simmering tensions.

Pakistan on Saturday demanded Iran to take a stern action against the terrorists involved in the brutal killing of 14 passengers after offloading them from the bus on the Makran Coastal Highway in Balochistan.

In this regard, Pakistan’s Foreign Office (FO) forwarded a letter of protest to the Iranian Embassy in Islamabad.

He should go to Afghanistan too . Keep in touch with all neighbors for peace . Peace in the region, peace at home and vice versa ... This terrorism has already destroyed Pakistan, now time to build economy and IK is doing his best.

Good Move! by going to Mashad First! he should visit Imam Raza Shrine then go to Tehran! Really Really Good Move...

I am pretty sure Mullah of Iran will listen to him. Iran will be back to us. once we start trade with them things will go normal...anybody remember Gas line project. its about right time..we have the leverage and chinese backing it can be done...without americano pressure..

Its about perception you create well done!

Mashhad stopover was actually personal pilgrimage for 3 of his ministers Zulfi Bukhari, Ali Zaidi and Shireen Mazari.

With Indian operatives in Chabahar doing cross border terrorism inside Pakistani Balochistan, this trip is already controversial and futile.
Economically or even security wise Iran has nothing to offer. Its already depending on India trying to hurt our interests in Balochistan. This is just a trip to appease shia in PTI that Pakistan wishes to remain balanced which is quite stupid as Iran is untrustworthy.

I thought Shireen Mazari would be forward looking. another disappointment.

When was the last time a head of state from Pakistan visited Iran?
Lets see if this visit could achieve any targets specially related to security.

Is IP gas pipe line also on the agenda?

I remember Nawaz Shareef visited Iran on Yemen issue and tried to bring both Iran & KSA closer though main man was Gen. Raheel.

Good to see the matko covering her head :D

That's a pretty decent reception. Looks like the Iranians are serious for a change (hopefully)
