It can't get any worse than the situation was after Pakistan's Nuclear tests.
1. Population size is much bigger by now.
2. Life-styles have shifted in many locations by now.
3. Everything is much more expensive by now (PKR devaluation; Inflation).
4. Job opportunities are limited and there is pressure to shift to entrepreneurship but startups are known to fail as well. Exports to USA spiked due to rise in entrepreneurships nevertheless.
5. Pakistan also borrows much larger sums of money from IMF, KSA and China to manage its BOP than ever before.

Much have changed since the 1990s.

Socio-economic development is one of my areas of research.

Pakistani leaders must have a PLAN or many commoners will suffer IF bilateral relations with USA will TANK.

This, plan worse case scenario ASAP

All the Pakistani awam need to do is earn honestly and work hard.

Allah will take care of the rest.

I reflect on my own success (modest as it is) and I was not worthy of it. Allah provided. All I did was struggle and maintain the boundary between halal and haram.

Sanctions can't be applied that easily and in a country of 220 million people - if we innovate and meet our internal needs thier impact are limited too. The world is a huge market, there is more wealth in our neighbourhood than in the rest of the world.

Just focus on your own economic potential and your own business - each one of us should try to conquer the world ourselves and the success will come with it.

Even if 10% of Pakistan is educated and an economic asset that's still 22 million people.

Another important point brought up by Shahid Masood is if NCV was rejected and it has been ruled a legal order by SC then why did IK dissolve assemblies?

Highly likely fait accompli 👍
Because IK wouldnt be able to pass the budget, if all these deseated new by election and then again things will not move

At least expect no respite at FATF and IMF. Those conditions will get tougher. Few rating agencies might get activated as well. If this drags longer, GSP+ could also come as part of discussion. However each of this can be managed by deft diplomatic efforts.

  • Opposition says Imran Khan "openly rebelled against the country and Constitution".
  • Opposition hopes that top court would pass a ruling in light of justice and in line with Constitution.
  • Says Opposition has “proved its clear majority” in National Assembly.
ISLAMABAD: The united Opposition on Sunday evening demanded a full bench of the Supreme Court of Pakistan hear a case on the government's "unconstitutional' act tomorrow.

Earlier today, President Arif Alvi, upon the advice of Imran Khan, had dissolved the National Assembly after deputy speaker decided not to allow the Opposition to vote on the no-confidence motion.

According to a joint statement issued by the united Opposition, "Imran Niazi openly rebelled against the country and the Constitution, the punishment for which has been clearly stated in Article 6 of the Constitution — high treason."

The united Opposition, in its statement, further expressed its hope that the top court would pass a ruling in the light of justice and in line with the Constitution. It termed April 3 the “darkest day” in the country’s history, adding that constitutional, democratic, legal and political norms were “violated”.

The statement said that the united Opposition had “proved its clear majority” in the National Assembly and made it clear that it has a majority in the lower house.

The joint Opposition thanked all the friends of the Constitution, people, and democracy for its support.

PM, president's orders to dissolve NA subject to SC's order: CJP Bandial

The joint Opposition’s statement comes after Chief Justice of Pakistan Umar Ata Bandial took notice of the political situation in the country and said that "any orders and actions that Prime Minister Imran Khan and President Arif Alvi regarding the dissolution of the National Assembly shall be subject to the order of this court."

Chief Justice of Pakistan Umar Ata Bandial reached the top court after President Arif Alvi dissolved the National Assembly. The development came after the Opposition leaders demanded to review the “unconstitutional” ruling given by National Assembly Deputy Speaker Qasim Suri.

The apex court has adjourned the hearing till tomorrow (Monday). Meanwhile, the top court has issued notices to Attorney General Khalid Khalid Jawed Khan, the speaker, deputy speaker, defence secretary, interior secretary, and all political parties.

According to reports, the judicial staff also arrived at the Supreme Court. Meanwhile, Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar and Justice Ijaz ul Haq also reached the Supreme Court.

Nobody should take advantage of the situation: CJP Bandial

Commenting on today’s development, CJP Bandial said that the law-and-order situation should be maintained.

“This is an important matter and a hearing will be held tomorrow,” he said, barring all political parties and government departments to take advantage of the ongoing situation.

Regarding the Opposition’s petition, he said that the hearing should be fixed for PPP’s petition.

It is surprising to see people are calling IK politically immature after today's event. Do you really not believe that he hasn't gone thru complete legal advise by subject matter experts before making a move. Just wait, how PTI attorney general and lawyers complicates the issue further. If SC doesn't give their verdict tomorrow than opposition petition is done and dusted in favor of PTI. So for opposition, tomorrow's proceeding will be very crucial.

First asking government MNAs not to attend the session and later asking all of them to come ....was actually a deception. Opposition thought, it will be a straightforward proceeding, little they thought how they have been taken back.
Only geo tv and party type would be calling this.

get deals from russia, china if any sort in that case.

Oh please!! Two days ago, banning his MNAs from even attending the NCV session. Then yesterday asking them to attend the session. Then today going to this illegal route which, if the courts follow a constitutional route, is rationale? Imran Khan is known for his personal integrity and sincerity. But not for his political acumen. Those targeting him are the veteran sharks of PPP and the Noon League. People with money and tons of experience. Noon League is especially nasty in character assassinations.

If you want to know what a truly smart politician would have done about this NCV, then watch this blast from the past: A similar NCV against Benazir Bhutto. And ponder what was stacked against her. And if you can read Urdu then read the press coverage, marvel at the dirty language, the ethnic, misogynist, the religious bigotry piled upon her, especially by the Noon League. I followed those events closely then--32+ years ago! And Benazir was a lioness compared with Imran Khan when you compare the two about the NCV.

Agreed. Regardless of who was right and who was wrong. Elections are the way forward. All of the people of Pakistan were not in support of the VoNC at all. Just as not all are in support of IK. So let elections decide who has the majority. Both sides have made major legal mistakes, and unless both sides are punished for them, crying for one or the other won’t do anything.
this thinking has taken us to the place where we are right now. this should be investigated completely how this whole thing was orchestrated, then elections should take place, till then caretaker govt must carry on.
