Gilani sb is a very traditional conservative whose family life hardly comes into the public view. While his affair (and marriage) with Naheed Akhtar is known to many, I didn't know that he had triplet sons.

PM celebrates birthday of triplet sons in London

WASHINGTON: Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani arrived here Sunday at the US Air Force’s Andrew base to attend the Nuclear Security Summit. He is leading the smallest delegation of its kind in the country’s history. The prime minister who is here with full preparation appeared in a pleasant mood.

Soon after landing he held extensive talks with President Obama. It was second meeting between the two leaders. Two years back when Gilani was here, the American president had visited him at his hotel. This time Gilani called on Obama at the White House and exchanged pleasantries of the last meeting. It did work and the meeting between the two leaders became significant and meaningful in the backdrop of Pakistan’s emerging geographical position in the fast changing international political scenario.

By nature President Obama is an enthusiastic person while Gilani is quite jolly. They recalled the interaction between the two people and settled a number of issues to transform bilateral relationship into a dependable friendship.

Earlier in London, Gilani celebrated the collective birth anniversary of his triplet sons Moosa Gilani, Qasim Gilani and Haidar Gilani that was also attended by the first lady Fauzia Gilani who had especially traveled from the Belgian capital Brussels. She had been suffering from fever but had to come all over for the pleasure of the kids. Happy songs were recited on the occasion and especial prayers were offered

The small Pakistan delegation was squeezed further as the first lady could not travel any more and stayed back in London. When on board the flight from the Heathrow airport destination Washington, the prime minister walked to the accompanying media team. He was asked lightly about the meeting with the MQM supreme Altaf Hussain. The response generated wide applause when in the same jolly manner he responded that it had been excellent but quickly desired to know as to when the meeting has taken place.

He responded to yet another question with light applause when asked by a lady correspondent to explain the nature of his parleys with Pervez Musharraf. He said the former president was sad but ‘I could not help him’. In the initial stages of my premiership, Musharraf used to express satisfaction over the nature of dealings with me, but it remains any body’s guess as to how I used to feel, Gilani recalled.

Gilani advised the lady correspondent to put forward serious questions when she asked what were the prospects of his joining Pervez Musharraf’s All Pakistan Muslim League. While smiling he responded that every thing was possible in politics.

However the retired general is not in London for the time being. His wife had gone to USA from Islamabad last week where the entire family is busy in a marriage ceremony of some close relative.

The Nuclear Security Summit that begins in Washington from Monday shall end with a joint communiquÈ. As far as Pakistan is concerned its track record in connection with the safety and security of the atomic installations and equipments are next to none. Obama himself had praised in open words for more than once the arrangements made by Pakistan.

However the Russian and Indian precautionary measures had never been satisfactory. The adamant and stiff stance adopted by the Israeli government remains a sourced of concern and reservations. Much would be spoken concerning Iran and the Democratic Peoples Republic of Korea. The US would insist to build pressure on the two countries from the summit platform.

It may be recalled with regard to the summit that it was India that had taken the region towards atomic armaments by experimenting its own atomic weapon some 36 years ago. Pakistan had to follow suit as a deterrent.

The Summit is also expected to deliberate upon the question of disposal of nuclear waste material. The delegates would especially discuss measures to be adopted in the years to come for the protection of atomic weapons and material used in its manufacture from reaching into the hands of irresponsible elements.

PS:- Birthday is a far better word than birth anniversary. Don't know what the scribe was thinking.
