PM considers speaking in Urdu with Obama

JK. Most Pakistanis find it difficult to communicate in English. Plus trying to grasp new mathematical or scientific concepts in a foreign language is difficult for kids. I guess introducing these subjects in Urdu will bring a positive change. I don't have references to any studies/papers, just guessing.

Haha true that.

@ "people find it easy to write an application in English" , where did you get this impression? Outside the posh areas of Islamabad, Lahore, Peshawar and Karachi, and except for people in the age bracket of 18-30 these days, most people prefer Urdu. Heck I'd say most people can't even write Urdu (remember Pak's literacy rate is around 60%).

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is considering to speak in Urdu during his much anticipated meeting with US President Barrack Obama next month, The Nation learnt yesterday.

“There has been no decision yet but there is a possibility that Nawaz Sharif speaks in Urdu as we have started efforts to introduce Urdu as our main (official) language,” a source close to the premier confided.

The correct word is Morale not moral - Poor journalism. Moral has a different meaning & morals do not need boosting.

Speaking in one's own language is a good gesture for cause of nationalism. Interpreters are there for translation. Russians, Arabs, Chinese, Persians and afterall Englishmen, all use their own languages. Nawaz should also use Urdu even in the meetings of UN General Assembly.

USAID is good way for the US to inspire cordial relations, with India at least they are getting some ROI with over 12 billion in defense deals already signed, hmm and more than 4-6 billion still in the pipeline this year alone. hmm.Not to mention over 20-30 billion in nuke plants to be set-up soon enough. hmmm Facts it seems, have a strange way of awakening themselves. As for ROI with Pak, hmm they are still waiting.
