@ Yeti.

Buddy, did you start this thread to let it be ruined by some trolls who have nothing worthwhile to add? If so then it is OK. But if you had intended some worthwhile discussion on the subject of defence cooperation and exchange between India and China, then my request is not to feed these certified trolls. These are highly acclaimed and proficient trolls with many years of trolling experience under their belts. They can destroy your thread in no time if you allow them. The best way to handle them is to ignore them or, if they are being particularly obnoxious, just report them and let the mods handle them.

The point is that despite certain reverses in bilateral relations between India and China in the recent months, the governments of both the nations believe that military to military contacts are worthwhile and useful and that is why the Chinese delegation is here. The military is always an important tool in foreign policy interactions and military to military contacts built over a period of time help in better understanding between nations and are useful in diffusing flash point situations which otherwise may snowball into major issues. An example of this is the phone call made by our DGMO to his Pakistani counterpart when that helicopter strayed across the LC. The Pakistanis responded by releasing the helicopter and the crew in a matter of hours after refueling it. This was possible only by a high level military interaction. Remember, the military of any country is the last body that wants war as it has to bear the brunt of that war. War between India and china is in the interest of neither country and therefore it is wise for us to encourage military to military interactions which may help in preventing such a war in the future.

Brother I would have thought such a positive step would be a good thing and that why would anyone troll on such positive news? but I should have known better :agree:

The stapled visa issue is now solved  now we just have to find a long term workable solution to the border dispute but something tells me with the new Chinese leadership (defence background) coming soon he could well be more hard nosed it will not be a easy going forward.

Those are just media reports pal. Foreign policies of nations are built over decades in a way to best serve the national interests. Mere change of guard at the top is not synonymous with a change of foreign policy.

it will be very costly project in world histroy to divert through mountain to sea take billion $.
if ur gov will do then u will create another enemy in south asia(bangladesh).india will have solid reason to kick u from tibet.china will take lesson from india.
