Badaling 八达岭 is the most visited section of the Great Wall and is about 80 km NW of Beijing center and 20 km NW of Juyongguan 居庸关. This portion was originally built by the Ming Dynasty in 1505 as a military out post and the highest point is Beibalou 北八樓 which stands 1,015 meter. The Nixons paid a visit here on 2/24/1972.
