What's new

Petrol price likely to go up by Rs14.37 from May 1

i think the next 6 or 7 months are very important.democratic system will end soon if this price hikes continues.this will likely to go up further.there are lots of other things which will see hikes in prices.all in all, this is the worst government ever in the history of pakistan.all my friends living nearby regret giving vote to pti.first asad omar destroyed entire economy and put conditions in front of imf.imf tried to loan pakistan two times, two times they failed to understand conditions.now asad omar is not finance minister but he already done enough damage.i pray for better future but i can see very difficult times ahead.how many times uae, saudi and china help us with money? they are all fed up.no energy,no gas,no water.how can you run your business, your industries without energy? i think things are getting out of control and it's time for army to take matter in their own hand.these politicians don't deserve parliament.they don't deserve anything.put all in jail.bring back musharraf or raheel sharif and make anyone of them president of pakistan and dissolve all trash like k electric, water board, sui gas.remove people on high posts in pia and steel mills.do something for energy on emergency basis.asad omar deserves military courts.

Actually Pakistanis pay only 0.67 cents, 11 cents above oil rich KSA. Even US citizens pay 0.71 cents. Note that US itself produce massive amount of oil, not to mention their mammoth economy. And yes if you look at regional countries i.e., India, China, Bangladesh, they all have gasoline prices way higher than Pakistan. It was stupid that Pakistani govt was not charging the consumers and instead providing subsidy to an import that is responsible of swallowing largest amount of $ reserves.

Good decision but govt should increase even more for residential consumers.
The rates mentioned here is PKR122 for diesel and PKR 113 for petrol. So, this will mean 0.85 USD and 0.80 USD for diesel and petrol. In India, diesel is 0.95 USD and petrol is 1.05 USD. So, Pakistani fuel price s still cheaper comparatively even after this price hike.

One of the likely IMF conditionalities is about removing energy subsidies, for good reasons.

Will you send us the dollars from states for petrol? Not everyone is rich and residing in USA like you.

Indians paying US$ 1.10 for 1 liter petrol.... Pakistanis paying 0.70 US$ for 1 liter petrol....

India also has better economy, the value of their currency is better so their purchasing power is more.

But still if you want to compare, who's stopping you from comparing to Saudi Arabia?

Are you people crazy. Your people cannot afford these prices. What the hell is wrong with PTI loyalists.

These countries you listed, not only do have they have better valued currency but also some have way higher average incomes. Their people have this purchasing power.

These high prices will effect trading costs, industry cost and will also inflate market prices.

PMLN kai time mein tou koi koi comparisons nhi, bas mahengai ka naraa, orr ab... Har tarah ki justification.

Raising prices reduces consumption of an imported commodity, and that is the whole point.

It is clearly not the way to go about it. You know what else reduced imported commodity? Currency devaluation.

What do you say? Government should devalue rupee to 200 perhaps?

No country reduced imports like this. You are also killing your national revenue by this, it effects people's purchasing power, limits industries, trade, and the loss goes to State. This is really common sense.

Some more devaluation is also likely to happen in the near and mid-term future, no doubt.

No wonder why your national economy is too sick while most of you guys are healthy. Do you have any other similar comparison in different areas??:lol::lol:

And its stupid. Government is forcing something out which is their due to need by economically strangling the people.

Not really. It is inevitable given the underlying weakness of the Pakistani economy.
