Beijing, Nov.4 (People's Daily Online) --"After examining it carefully, 11 problems of three kinds that do not accord with the classification requirements have been found in the network information security area." In mid-October, in a security situation analysis conference held by an engineering design institute under the general staff of the Peoples Liberation Army, comrades of the Security Committee actively revealed shortcomings of network security to eliminate potential security hazards.
As a technology-intensive scientific design organization, the institute's dependence on the network is especially heavy. By continuing to improve the technical defense ability, the institute has realized the goal of both enjoying the convenience of the network and preventing secrets from being stolen and put an end to the previous simple management mode of "shutting down the computer and cutting off the line."
Because the research, development and design work is characterized by a huge amount of confidential contents, a wide range of participants, difficult confidential management and control, the institute has adopted the strategy of "early prevention, comprehensive management and control, dynamic monitoring and the elimination of potential problems" and has focused on key procedures, such as personnel education and management, stop system security, electromagnetic signal confidentiality and on-site checks and guidance. This has effectively ensured smooth progress of various major programs.
The institute reviewed and designed more than 60 major engineering and construction programs during the 11th Five-Year Plan period without any leak of confidential information or major accident due to negligence. The People's Liberation Army has awarded the institution as an outstanding organ in terms of confidential work.
