Palestine's ambassador to Pakistan, Ahmed Rabei, presents a souvenir to Minister of State for Health, Dr. Zafar Mirza, at the Palestinian embassy's mission in Islamabad on January 28, 2020.

ISLAMABAD: To facilitate doctors and medical staff in case of an emergency, the Palestinian embassy has gifted a mobile health unit to the government of Pakistan, during a ceremony which was held at its mission in Islamabad on Tuesday.

“It’s a two-bed mobile health unit with basic equipment, an inspection room for doctors and a generator which is a small gift from the people of Palestine to the people of Pakistan,” Ahmed Rabei, the ambassador of Palestine to Pakistan, told Arab News on Tuesday.

As the mobile unit is equipped with a generator, “it can be moved from one place to another to deal with any emergency.”

Rabei said that the gesture is also aimed at deepening the ties between the two countries.

“Relations between Pakistan and Palestine are very deep, beginning from 1951 and Palestinians are very proud of these relations.

The idea of a mobile hospital unit is very important to us (Palestinians) as our Pakistani brothers had supported the Palestinians since the beginning of the [political] crisis,” he said, adding that this help was extended in the field of education, health and in politics, too.

“It is our gesture to show gratitude to the Pakistani people for all that they have done for us over the years,” he said.

Pakistan’s Minister of State for Health, Dr. Zafar Mirza, who received the mobile unit at the Palestinian embassy, expressed his gratitude for the initiative.

Pakistan's Minister of State for Health, Dr. Zafar Mirza, inaugurates a mobile health unit which was gifted by Palestine to Pakistan during a ceremony at its mission in Islamabad on January 28, 2020.

“On behalf of the government and people of Pakistan, I pay my gratitude to the beautiful people of Palestine for this gorgeous gift,” Mirza told Arab News, adding that certain areas in Pakistan do not have easy access to health care and will be helped by this initiative.

“This unit will help us provide health care in those places which do not have easy access...We will make best use of it and will always remember the lovely gesture of our brotherly country (Palestine),” he said.

The Palestinian envoy said he was confident of Pakistan’s full support in the future as he forsaw a difficult time ahead after the announcement of a Palestinian policy by US President Donald Trump.

“Now we are going for a big development in Palestine as US President Trump is going to announce his idea for the solution of the Palestine issue. After this we may have more difficult life in Palestine. We are sure about the usual support of government and people of Pakistan in this new and difficult phase as they had provided until now,” Rabei said.

. . .
Palestine is looking for friends now after Trump is getting more involved in their dispute.

Only question for Pakistan's strategic planners is do we throw our full support behind them as they are a Muslim underdog, or bide our time due to their past actions that antagonised Pakistan.

Like what??

Do you and others really care what sellout politicians say??

What can a couple million Palestinians do that can "antagonize" a nation with 207M people (and counting), is the sole Muslim nuclear power, 6th largest active military, 6th largest pop. on the planet and so on...

We should never, I say never, forget the teachings of our Prophet SAW & must always stand in solidarity with all Muslims around the world.

Moving on, Israel has no rights over Palestine and should never be supported. Israel is actually a very grave threat to Pakistan; wanted to bomb Kahuta, arms India against Pakistan, and so on.

More of it ties into the Islamic Eschatology part, the end times Hadiths and all but obviously, "religious talk" is a bannable offense here on PDF so I won't go there but I think you and other potential Israeli supporters get the idea (not saying you support Israel but PDF is full of wannabe Israeli behind lickers). :enjoy:

Mahmoud Abbas called Modi a man of peace and gave him a full tour of Palestine. They gave him much more affection than any other Pakistani leader.

PA (West Bank) are firmly in the Indian camp.

Probably we would have better relations with Hamas in Gaza if we tried to get close to them.

I mean appeasing Indians and refusing to support Pakistani interests, despite our support for their cause in the past is frustrating to some people.

The question for the decision makers now is whether Pakistan proceeds with this Ummah first policy as it has done in the past and yielded little results, or whether we adopt a Pakistan first policy and worry about our own issues first. Either way our policy towards Palestinian independence should still remain the same.
