Pakistan's Loss: A Disaster or a Blessing

..............in ALL honesty, truth is that bangladesh does NOT even register on the radar of Pakistan or Pakistanis. Whether it is doing well or not is COMPLETELY irrelevant to us.........

bangladesh is TOO far, TOO different, TOO meaningless to have any relevance to Pakistan or Pakistanis.............The thought of bangladesh doesn't even register with modern day Pakistanis.....:azn:

Pakistan was a part of the Persian/Safavid empire for over 400 years. In effect, it means that Pakistan, Iran and parts of Afghanistan were one nation for over 400 years. That is an eternity compared to 24 years of having a union with bangladesh. To this day, Pakistan still borders Iran and Afghanistan. We also have genetic, racial & cultural links to both Iran and Afghanistan, something we DO NOT share with bangladeshis. Yet despite all of this, no Pakistani, Iranian or Afghan gives two hoots if ANY of the above 3 are doing well or not.........

Pakistan GDP crossed a trillion dollar mark, my interactions with the banking, world bank like, IMF, ADB, SBP, SECP, economists and personal interaction with business reaffirms that the documented economy is only 30% of our actual economy. We can debate on that but rest assured we are much better off and a enjoy a much higher living standard than many other nations in Asia, and I claim it not the basis of some false pretense rather my extensive traveling abroad and first hand experiences.

That's actually a pleasant shock, nothing less. Would you like to further throw some light on the 1 trillion mark please? Any official sources? And why is our GDP shown as 300billion usd in official circles? I would be patiently waiting for your reply my friend.

That’s why in live tv show your intellectuals ask to make Pakistan Bangladesh? Even they admit it will take 5-10 years to become Bangladesh for Pakistan. Stop your nonsense and childish blabbering.

The above is just conjectural at best and only limited to a handful of intellectuals. A similar discussion was aired only a few weeks ago on how Pakistan can one day become as economically successful as South Korea, Malaysia or Indonesia. There was also a discussion about a year ago on why the Iranians enjoy a way higher standard of living compared to Pakistanis even though we border and share a lot else in common with them. Just a discussion where over 99% of Pakistanis could not care less about or are completely oblivious too. Next month I'm sure there will be a Pakistani news anchor discussing how Pakistan can become like Argentina and go from economic zeros to heros in 12 years.

Everything is conjectural to you. It was not just his opinion he gave numbers and facts. I do understand significant of Pakistanis are not literate or have access to internet or have very little knowledge on outside worlds. Because of these factors condition of Pakistan is like this.

You can remain in your own lala land. No one will bother you.

But ultimately it DOES not matter to Pakistan or Pakistanis in the slightest. Whatever bangladesh does or doesn't do is COMPLETELY irrelevant to Pakistan or Pakistanis. You are TOO far and TOO different to have ANY meaning or impact on us.

Pakistan and Pakistanis are mainly concerned with CPEC, our relations with China and Turkey, possible war with india and how Iran's role in the Middle East directly affects our domestic policies. All else means nothing to us. That's the reality.

PS, next month this guy will be giving facts & figures as to how Pakistan can become like Argentina and go from economic zeros to heros in 12 years. Doesn't mean the Argentinians and Pakistanis are relevant and important to one another.

The guy(IK) is PM , now no one stopping him. Why cant he make us BD now ( I know you will post his videos , because IK also talked a lot about BD, that is why I already covered IK)… lol he is not able to make one company to build manufacturing unit in Pakistan so far .. Not even one single mobile (home appliances manufacturer) and we are spending 2.5+ billion on imports ..…….. Keep in mind he is a politician , and politician can do and talk any thing for power and glory …… And I don't give any sh!t what that so called gloryman said in that video.. These creatures are lowest of all creatures.. LOL you can find so many talking against dams in Pakistan ( I mean any dam , they will oppose the idea of having dams ) ..
Yes BD is doing good , and we are happy (not jalousie) and yes we are not doing good , because of failed policies in 90s and early 2000s …… Our system(elite "Including all types") destroyed Pakistan .. First Bhooto Nationalization , then Pee , pee ,pee and pml-n import base economical policies ( In 90s) and Mushraf(In 2000s) took it to peak.....

Same here as well. Nobody think or talk about Pakistan in Bangladesh as well. This thread is not about Pakistan. It is about reflecting back on Bangladesh. It's success and failure. This thread is about an American journalist made a lot of dire prediction about Bangladesh 47 years ago which did not materialize. He predicted Bangladesh to sink deeper and deeper into oblivion, but we fought against the great odds and marching towards the progress. You can check OP and some of my initial posts where I tried to answer his prediction with current actual outcome. Pakistan is not relevant here.

So why post this on a Pakistani forum? Why not just go to a bangladeshi forum and stay put there? I myself have NEVER EVER gone to a bangladeshi forum, website etc.

Because this page says 'Bangladesh Defence Forum'. very few Bangladeshi poster venture beyond this sub section. I almost never goes to any Pakistani section and comment there. Have you ever seen me commenting on Pakistan in other sub section except this? I am sure , you will be hard pressed to find any one. If mods abolish this sub section, I will never come here. This is also true for a lot of other Bangladeshi posters here. I think, Bangladeshi participation will drop by 80% if this 'Bangladesh Defence' section is closed. Only a very few razakar minded poster like @Al-zakir may continue here. Others will lost interest. We come here to discuss things about Bangladesh, not Pakistan.

Why not just go to a bangladeshi forum and stay put there?
Unfortunately such type of defence forum in Bangladesh do not exist. Or put severe constrains on becoming a free member.

But if you were REALLY a patriotic bangladeshi you wouldn't come here at all regardless of whether we had a bangladeshi section or not. We did after all kill millions of your people as per the indian/bengali narrative. indian defence forums/websites always have Pakistani sections but very few Pakistanis venture there as they are enemies of our race and people.

Indian defence forum/websites are a gutter of hindutva fanatics. No other nationality can survive their foul mouth and obscene behavior. That's why their forum remained in gutter. But this forum is somewhat tolerant and welcoming to all nationalities. That's why many nationalities came here and made this forum big. This Bangladesh sub section is actually the most prominent forum in internet discussing about Bangladesh defence. I can assure you, If I find something better than this, I will leave this forum and go there.

Fair point. But as the indians are your allies, don't you feel comfortable visiting their forums?

Traveling right now briefly there are two ways to express/estimate GDP (PPP) and GDP(Nominal) IMF estimates are cross referenced at multiple places will give details when I am back to lhr, probably Friday or Monday. But briefly even wikipedia page on Pakistan has cross referenced Pakistan GDP(PPP) purchasing purchasing power parity it is 1 trillion dollars and change, but its the other GDP (nominal) 2017 estimates which is about 303 billion or about 350 billion ballpark nowadays. Normally GDP (PPP) is used by advanced economies like USA< Germany, China etc, but in case of Pakistan I concur with many of the economist to use GDP(PPP) instead of nominal because 70% of our economy is undocumented. It is an intellectual debate but IMF estimates do mention it to be 1 Trillion dollar and change.

Our media and people generally believe that FATF is a villain hell bend upon putting Pakistan in the black list, I have read each of their meeting with Pakistan notes and being in financial sector myself I believe wholeheartedly while there is a lot of politicking, back stabbing Pakistan but what they are asking Pakistan to do will benefit our economy tremendously few years down the road.

As for the runaway wife, someone as already mentioned and I agree with him Bangladesh is not even on our radar, despite working in the financial sector discussion on bangladesh is rarely mentioned, even those who have first hand nightmare if visiting mention it as a corruption marred, shithole shanty town.
