Better to get a Visa to Vietnam before you start. Vietnam official business is super tricky.

I have - Cambodia has both visa on arrival or online visa or what is called e-visa - provide your credit card no and a jpeg pic online in the Cambodian embassy site and in 3 days you get visa in the email. Take the printout and that is your visa - easiet visa process I have seen.
