What's new

Pakistani Troops already in Saudi Arabia to protect the Holy sites.

I don't trust iranian deal as well reason iran can play same russia play with Europe

Iranis cannot afford to lose Pakistan. China will not let this happen as well. Iranis are already on their toes at their western side so tensions with Pakistan at eastern side will not go well for them. So they will probably ignore our hand in Yemen.

As far as IK is concerned, leave him , he is ignorant at times. He was also against the operation in NW lol

There is little chance that things will go south .haroon rashid is very credible plus pak don't want to miss this chance to become player I always said Govt should work out with GCC states a security and economic plan and patnership which is win win for all if u read whole motion with points one by one it hints towards that .But it all very early stage will work out down the road .

The number is around 1K and they are there for decades now. Infact their number has gone down over the years.

Meanwhile UAE warns Pakistan of 'heavy price' for neutrality on Yemen.

UAE condemns Pakistan's vote on Yemen
No I think he just reacted showing displeasure but I guess he will be happy when he read all .one more thing the chances of ground warfare R remote and too early to say

i dont know why they ask pakistan...all arab states r rich and have large military budgets and better equipments....if they dont have courage then they should keep quite and stop proxy wars...almost 10 arab states can not counter one iran..but one thing is sure iranis are brave giving sleepless nights to whoe arab

He said Saudi Arabia had adequate resources for its own defence.

He said Pakistan was nowhere near Saudi Arabia in terms of military strength. “Saudi Arabia’s defence spending for the current fiscal year is said to be of over $82 billion and last year it was $62bn.”
If so, why the heck is SA asking other nations to protect its holy places? With a defence budget in excess of $82 billion, can't it protect its holy places with its own resources? Why do they want others to do their job? What is the threat perception? Do they expect Iran or Yemen to roll in with heavy Armour supported by tanks and artillery to take over the holy places?

Or is there a terrorist threat that they are incapable of countering in their own territory? Why do they want others to do their dirty job? Are they afraid that Arabs would be killed? Probably they want others to die for them! Cool, eh?

Nobody is a fool to attack the holy places and make a enemy of the whole Muslim world. Iran is a Muslim country. The holy places are holy too for Iranians, hence there is no question of Iranians attacking those places.

SA wants boots on ground for Yemen operations, hence it wants Pakistan to get involved. SA is taking advantage of Pakistan.

ISLAMABAD: Minister for Climate Change and PML-N’s information secretary Senator Mushahidullah Khan said on Friday that a large number of Pakistani troops were already in Saudi Arabia to protect holy places.

So my question in my previous post was, why is SA asking others to protect holy places within its own country? Ref my post #19.

Pakistan wants not to anger Iran so Pakistan is trying to play its own game. It is saying it wants to protect the holy places, but not put its boots in Yemen. So Pakistan has a large number of Pakistani troops in SA, but not in Yemen

But SA knows that holy places are not in danger, they want Pakistani troops in Yemen. Probably in the end SA-Pakistan relations would not be what they were before.

I do not understand people who want Pakistan to send its troops to fight the Saudi War in Yemen.

KSA has a fully equipped modern Army, Airforce and Navy with more than 250,000 thousand troops.
They are professional and can handle some rebels on their own easily.
KSA handled the Houthi insurgency in 2010 also when they took some mountains in Southern SA. They can handle them now also.

Why would they want some other country to fight for them.

Pakistan will only send its troops to "Protect" the holy cities, if they are at risk....and I would be the first one to go.

We should propose a mutual defence treaty. In black and white. So if face threat, we should also receive actual help in terms of men and material.

.
These forces won't set foot in Yemen but will support KSA for defense, training, logistics and intelligence. Pakistan has been providing this much support to the Saudis for decades now.

@Zarvan We are not going anywhere, read the article before jumping to conclusions.
When they are in KSA I hardly doubt they would stay out of it

They always were in KSA. Unless the Houthis invade Saudi Arabia, or something major changes, they're staying out.

Answers:

1. The Arabs want others to fight for them. It's called fighting by proxy.

2. Why spill your own blood when there are others who are willing to do it for you?

3. Arabs aren't confident of their war fighting capabilities, in spite of a whopping defence budget of $82 billion.

4. They are used to a life of luxury. It's a pain going out to fight. It's no picnic. And they know it!

So who fits the bill to a 'T'? Pakistan of course! After all, the House of Saud sheltered Nawaz when he was excommunicated from Pakistan. And the recent gift of $1.5 billion seemingly without any strings attached! But, alas! The Arabs are now asking for their pound of flesh! In other words, it's payback time for Pakistan.

As the saying goes: Beware! There's a design behind every freebie! :azn:
