well these arab nations have a lot of money, so they will always go for expensive toys...just look at egypt...i don't think any of them will buy thunder bcoz they have access to far better aircrafts

Pak should focus on african countries, and countries like myanmar bangladesh...or even indonesia or malaysia might be considered.

With regards to Egypt, it is not a producer of oil and so it doesn't have much cash. On the contrary, its economy is in shambles. I don't understand how it is funding all these military purchases.

But even the rich countries have always purchased single engine light fighter jets. Saudi Arabia and Iran bought huge quantities of F-5 Freedom Fighters, while the countries which were aligned with the Soviets used the Mig-21. So there is a lot of scope for the JF-17. I think many of the countries are waiting for the Block-3 version which will have a high level of technological enhancements. The Block 1 and Block 2 were interim types which were needed by the PAF to replace its oldest parts of the fighter fleet.

Lets wait and see how it turns out.

The F-5 was always a second tier fighter even when it was new. That is why the PAF rejected it completely and forced the USA to transfer the F-16. It was always inducted to maintain force levels rather than provide a qualitative edge. The MIG-21 was a leading fighter when it was new, but it remained in service long after its successor, the MIG-23, had been retired and has mainly performed as a second tier fighter.

The current versions of the JF-17, the Block 1 and Block 2, are interim types which the PAF did well to induct as replacements of the older jets. The JF-17 is still being developed, and as a package it offers much potential for growth.

Correct. Egypt is bankrupt completely; cant provide basic clean drinking water to its population and if it was not for the bread subsidies, 90% of the population wont have staple bread to eat.
It is bankrolled by KSA and GCC for going against the brotherhood govt.

Indeed well noted; there is a long road ahead in terms of development cycle for jf-17; my only input is they dont fall on their laurels like they did with K-8; and continue to stay one step ahead with newer block versions; if they have some foresight it will be a 30 year program at least; it is already 10 years+ in. How time flies ... just look at the Mirages.

eygpt has alot of gas though, its in better posiition than paksitan even without foreign funding
