Pakistani girl killed in Kashmir border firing: officials

Bullets, mortars, and other ammunition don't have the ability to distinguish a civilian from an enemy. Tragic incident indeed. This issue clearly won't be solved by chopping a few heads as the moronic members of this forum stated. I certainly hope peaceful talk prevails, and cross border firing is banned by both countries. RIP

R.I.P ,

First of all she was not a pakistani girl, she was a kashmiri girl living in pakistan Occupied kashmir.

Secondly, why pak army in occupied kashmir let these kashmiri civilians live so near to LOC ?

Either pak army in (P.O.K) Stop's giving cover fire to poor punjabi terrorists to make them infiltrate into India or remove those poor kashmiri civilians from LOC. Because if you help those poor punjabi souls to enter into our territory then they will be respected with AK Bullets between their eyes.

By the way, one civilian was also injured in India too because PA Troops firing from (P.O.K).

3rd ceasefire violation in Poonch, one injured

Infiltration attempt foiled
KT NEWS SERVICE

POONCH/MENDHAR, June 19: In the third ceasefire violation this month, Pakistani troops today opened indiscriminate firing along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch sector in which a civilian was injured after an infiltration bid was foiled by Indian troops.

Officiating PRO Defence, S N Acharya, said that a group of four armed persons from Pakistan-Administered Kashmir (PAK) were seen moving towards an Indian forward post in Krishna Ghati sector in Poonch district around 9.50 AM. Alert Indian troops took position and opened fire at them, he said adding they were pushed back towards PAK.

Contact was established with armed group and when challenged by Indian troops, they started firing indiscriminately targeting Indian troops. Indian troops took position and opened fire on the infiltrating group, and they were pushed back towards PAK, he claimed.

However, intelligence reports said that as the infiltration bid was foiled, Pakistani troops opened heavy firing on Indian posts Kranti, Kirpan and Ghora from their Daku, Battal and Roza Posts. Three militants were engaged in the firing by the troops and their fate was unknown as operation was going on in Krishna Ghati sector.

In another ceasefire violation, Pakistani troops opened indiscriminate fire in Mandi, Krishna Ghati and Chakan-Da-Bagh in Poonch sector.
In another incident, Pakistan violated ceasefire agreement in Poonch Brigade area with small arms at 11.00 AM today. Calibrated responses were given by own troops, Acharya added.

The injured, identified as Mohammad Shafiq, son of Mohammad Sharief, resident of border village of Shahpur, Poonch, was hit by a splinter near Sher Shakti Post Mandi, reports said. Injured civilian has splinter wounds in the head. He has been admitted in civil hospital, Poonch and his condition is stable.

Firing of heavy weapons stopped at 2.30 PM at Krishna Ghati Sector and at 3.30 PM at Poonch sector. However, intermittent small arms firing continued till late evening, he claimed
Sher Shakti, PP1 and PP2 in Mandi sector, Kripan and Kranti posts in Krishna Ghati sector and Bahadur, Rekha and Neck Posts in Poonch sector also came under firing. Small arms and 82 mm mortars were fired on Indian posts and Indian troops also retaliated, resulting in exchanges, the PRO added.

Panic gripped several forward area villages in the area as the fire continued till late evening. Meanwhile, the high alert has been sounded along the line of control and the troops are maintaining constant vigil to thwart any infiltration bids.

Earlier this month, a Junior Commissioned Officer was killed when Pakistan opened heavy fire with automatic weapons and rockets on Indian posts along the LoC in Poonch sector. Pakistan troops also opened small arms firing on Indian posts in Nangi Tikri forward area along LoC in Krishnagati.

Last month, Pakistani troops had pounded Indian posts along LoC in the Poonch sector with rockets. A Brigadier and two jawans were injured when Pakistani troops opened fire on Indian positions along the LoC in Tutmari Gali sector in valley.

And pakistani's talk about ceasefire violation.

It seems that almost 80% of the cross border firing incidents happen to civilians that are close to the border or LoC. I've read how the two pakistani students and the old lady got hit from stray rounds; they were extremely close to the border. There should also be laws which prohibit people from living in such areas or walking around in it.

@hinduguy @PlanetWarrior...it is indeed a very sad incident..and I strongly persist that suitable investigations must be carried out so that we could work on resolving such issues.

Civilians are advised not to.
It's also a bit of common knowledge, our border with India is active, every Pakistani should know not to venture too close.

However, asking for civilians to be kept safe along that 3000km border is something very difficult.
But as with the earlier incident, Indian army shelling injured two teens within about 2 km of Pakistani territory.

You know, the thing is that if the soldier or the commander who was responsible for the child's death (if an Indian soldier was responsible that is) is shown the body of the child then I can assure you that there is a 99,99% chance that soldier or commander will be totally remorseful of the fact that an innocent child was killed at his hands. Offcourse we must also presume that the firing/shelling was unprovoked and not in defence against any attacks etc. The point is that for as long as we keep these deaths as mere statistics and we do not attach any weight to the fact that innocent civilians and children are being slaughtered in this stupid flare ups then nobody will take action. The politicians can babble on about each other. The soldiers can march until kingdom come. The civilians except for times of declared war must be given some sort of indemnity against unnecessary attacks by both nations. In this case, Pakistan needs to give India a commitment against permitting insurgents from entering Indian owned/occupied territory and both nations must commit themselves to an independent investigative body to prevent unprovoked firing from the borders against civilian occupied areas. Having said that may this child's death not be a waste. Hopefully somebody will wake up and start putting pressure on both governments and the militaries of both countries to start behaving responsibly

How? It is your Army's responsibility to designate no-civilian zones in sensitive borders especially when your Army feels trigger happy about providing cover fire to 'freedom fighters'. Naturally as a military protocol, we will retaliate to that cover fire.

third incident, first an elderly lady injured due to firing, then in Kashmir 2 teens injured due to shelling and now this.

Very unfortunate.

Our soldiers don't want to injure civilians but since they don't know military protocol and are not provided with border-restriction zones for civilians, they come in between cross-fire and get killed.

However, asking for civilians to be kept safe along that 3000km border is something very difficult.

Retaliatory fire is a protocol to unilateral provocation.

Warn the civilians not to come near the border then they are safe during a potential cross-fire.
