coming back to the topic of the thread well this news suggest that after F16 USA also wants to pull the plug on spares and weapons on existing and promised cobra gun ships to pakistan and link them with handing over its so called assets and terroists in exchange as Obama has an obligation to show his voters something and republicans are fast truning againt Pakistan so

i guess @MastanKhan was right as he said something on similar lines almost three months back i guess he was right after all USA has after all made up its mind to say enof is enof and trade and tech sanctions are coming ... God Bless Pakistan

if the US says no then should this not ring alarm bells with the induction of the zulus being unducted? what if they say no to that too? yes you have the z10 and the zulus are cost you guys nothing but should such riskd be taken?

If we want something similar to cobra we can get that from China through their reverse engineering and they will simply get few things from here and there and give us a good new helicopter

Now we should share tech of F-16 with Chinese counterparts. This should be a big lesson for US.

Turkey will never come up with local engine for at least another 20 years.

never put all your eggs in one basket. don't rely on china that much. USA will do whats they think is right for them. things are shifting here in ASIA. enemies are turning allies. Just like pak-usa on f16 deal. SAUDIA-USA on iran.
Pakistan should start working on indigenous arm industry relying less on foreign suppliers in that way we could easily save some cash and give employment to our people.
As far as zulu deal is concernend my guess it have very slight chances of completing .pakistan should go to those suppliers whose product dont rely on USA spare parts.

Though not saying that the Honourable Minister is saying some thing that is not true, but it does not add up.

Pakistan has been operating the Cobra gunships for 30 years without trained engineers and mechanics? Very odd

The facility at Kamra was built for the purpose of engine overhaul and repairs of these engines. Yes some time back PAA had no night combat capability for the Cobra's, This was refused by US so Pakistan Army went to PAC and they said they have the capability to upgrade these helicopters. That was done with out the permission of USA and at that time they did raise issues.

All that matters for the China is to counter US and stand to them eyeball to eyeball which they are capable of... Coming to the F-16 deal and spare parts issue ...Pakistan is far more capable as it was in the nineties ...Different options can be availed if we are hit with any sanctions...We like US and western system for being easy to man and maintain ...but this option fails ...we can adopt to new systems on war footing ...Pak Def Forces are always trained to see it coming and accept it ...To be true ...Most of the Pakistanis are glad to leave the US camp ....Because of US we never had our own foreign policy ...!

Minister of Defence Production RANA TANVEER HUSSAIN revealed that ,Pakistan was in talks with US on overhauling of cobra helicopters but US attitude was not supportive . Finally now Pakistan engineers successfully overhauled cobra helicopters .Due to this overhauling US yell out 1 year

ISLAMABAD: Minister for Defence Production Rana Tanveer Hussain Monday said that the JF-17 aircraft were capable enough to meet defence requirements of the country.

Talking to reporters here, he said Pakistan had a fleet of state of the art JF-17 Thunder aircraft which carried all specifications of any advanced fighter jet.

He said Pakistan was at top among 10 countries having JF-17 fleet, saying that the country's defence was impregnable and had the capability to meet all challenges.

The minister said Pakistan was in negotiations with Russia for procurement of MI-35 helicopters, expressing confidence that there would be significant development in two months in this regard.

Commenting on the country's defence production quality, he said Pakistan Ordnance Factory (POF) was producing and exporting small arms to different countries including US, Britain and Germany.

He said the Ministry of Defence Production was working day and night to meet requirements of the armed forces, adding that a proposal had been forwarded to the quarters concerned for separate budget of the ministry.

Answering a question, Rana Tanveer said Pakistan was in contact with US for delivery of F-16 aircraft, and in case the deal was not materialized, it would approach other countries for the purpose.

Replying to another question, the minister said a protest had been launched with US over the recent drone attack, adding that US ambassador had been called in by the Foreign Office. Besides, Civil and Military leadership expressed serious concerns over the attack, he added. –APP

Sometime , such type of maintenance is part of contract. Hope its not breach of contract. Nodoubt PA save thousands of dollar using its own facilities.
