Pakistani cab driver praying on the top of his cab

Nothing is wrong there and he is not disturbing any one. You don't care what peoples think of you when you try to please your lord. I remembered when i was working as assistant of shelter housing manager. It was difficult for me to find a separate place for zuhar prayers and many times i started praying in my break time by putting chaddar on carpet and there were always some peoples sitting there and for them its may be weird watching me offering prayers like this or keep fasting in month of ramadhan but as i said you need courage and faith to do this..

Mashallah - Subhanallah.
:smitten::tup::pakistan::pakistan:

Idiots like this guy make a mockery of Islam. There are Mosques in New York city every couple of miles that he can go to to pray. But no, he has to act like a Monkey and climb his cab to pray in a Christian country. I have no patience for these clowns. No wonder the World thinks of Pakistanis as backward people.

I guess only such prayers can be done in public :D

This thread shows how ashamed and deeply offended we are of being Muslims/Muslim born...

The problem is they think too much what others will think of them if they offered prayers in public or if someone find out that they are having fasting or wearing salawar kameez in pulic. Those who are secure within themselves don't worry about others

Its like thinking that u will be considered terrorist if you start keeping beard and turban like osama. I don't think this guy has done any crime by offering prayers on his cab..We can love peoples in public but we cannot love God. Yes it would be better for him to find a mosque or find a separate place for prayers but we don't know about his circumstances and may be he tried to find a place first but could not find it..may be he has not enough time in the middle of his job..so much possibilities there and i don't think we should judge him if someone capture his video dont mean he was doing it for public attention but thats just my thoughts

Exactly...we try too hard to please others, and fail..
We cannot force others to Love us and we have no control over them if they want to hate us....We have to follow our religion whether they like it or they don't..
i have prayed on the banks of river seine London,in full public view..Have prayed in Rotterdam on Train station, again in full public view..
Its time to pray and there is no Mosque within reasonable distance, you have to pray...As long as you are not restricting peoples passage, your sit ups on a rag shouldn't be of any concern to anybody..
Its our own inferiority complex which makes us to think extensively what the others will think about us...even though its sure that they will still think bad about us if they want to.

I can relate it to myself. If someone would have captured my video when i was offering prayers at my work place during lunch break then i am sure these guys would also make fun of me without even knowing my circumstances that i had 30 minute break while mosque was one hour away from my work place and also i could not find proper separate place for prayers so the only option you left with was either prayers where you are or don't and i think those who love God will go for first one

Of course he should be criticized. It looks like he wants attention. Why not pray at home? Why not go to a nearby mosque? Why not pray sitting inside the cab? There are so many alternatives yet this guy goes out and prays on top of his cab (knowing that other people will not like it).

It's easy to say that he is not doing anything wrong and he may not be, but there are certain norms in society, and if no one else is performing religious rituals out in the public (on cabs), then you shouldn't be either (whether you're a Christian, Muslim, Hindu, whoever).

It's called praying inside the cab, rather than on top of it.

You can only say this for sure if you have ability to go into his heart and read his intentions

How could you pray at home when you are not at home and you are at work

What if you cannot find a mosque nearby or its too far from your place and you dont have enough time

pray sitting inside cab is more difficult because you cannot stand inside cab... can you?

and last but no least Muslims strive for what God like not what peoples like

I think he should pray at mosque instead of praying on top of his taxi.We would not like a non-muslim praying in public in Pakistan!Heck We don't even allow Ahmedis to enter their worship place. But in America you have full freedom of speech. That is why America has great influence in the world..

How do you pray when you're travelling? You are allowed to sit and pray if you don't have another alternative. As for climbing onto your vehicle and praying, I would not deem that a realistic alternative (what if it was an airliner?). Several members from the US have already stated that there are nearby mosques in NY, so...why didn't he just go there?

I'm pretty sure if a Priest started praying on top of a Rickshaw in the middle of Karachi, Lahore, or Islamabad, he would attract a lot of dirty looks and be ridiculed.

which planet you are from mate...
there are thousands of churches in Pakistan.....hundreds of hindu and six temples..
Sikh come every year for annual pilgrimage to Pakistan...and if they ever perform a religious practice in public i dont think anybody will bother..
Ahmedis are a very different case and the base of problem is not their religion...
the thread will go off topic or i had commented further on this...However "Mockery" is the keyword.

there are many "what ifs" and different solutions for that...
climbing on taxi may be for avoiding use of public place as in using public road for prayer..Taxi is a private property and owner can do what he wants.

If you are ill and dying but have sense then you can pray laying down on bad, if you can not stand then pray sitting on chair, if you are in war then pray while running, if you are a cab driver and it's time to pray, and there aren't any masjid around then pray in side the car while sitting. These option has been given to us to make our life easy by Allah.

Why go through trouble of doing this when easy options are there?

You are probably right.. I guess he just wanted to make a popular video for Youtube and used prayers/religion to automatically get the attention of overly religious Pakistanis.. We can see that he succeeded :D
