Pakistani Ambassador to USA Sherry Rehman to be charged with Blasphemy

Instead of banning the civilized people of Pakistan , the court, the Army, the religious leaders all should make sure that any case that has to be qualified to be called as Blasphemy required certain rules , not any dick and harry can point on any one and say he has violated the rule and if one is ready to repent on, then he should be pardoned , no case should be registered against the accused until proven and harsh penalty and cases should be charged on people & group that take the rule in hand

.
...So I say forget the law & revamp both the judicial & police system instead; make them truly impartial, competent & corruption free by making them free from any political interference, by inducting educated & well trained individuals in its cadre & by having a stringent system of accountability looming over them.
Yet if some aspect of Pakistanis' observance of Islam is responsible for corruption then corruption can't possibly be shut down as long as the blasphemy law exists, yes?

Alleged blasphemy: SC admits petition filed against Sherry Rehman for hearing

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Thursday admitted a petition filed against Sherry Rehman over allegedly committing blasphemy, DawnNews reported.

The petition was heard by a two-judge bench of the apex court comprising Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali and Justice Ejaz Afzal.

The bench directed CPO Multan Amir Zulfiqar to take action in accordance with the law.

The petition against Rehman, Pakistan’s ambassador to the United States, was filed by Faheem Akhtar Gill, a citizen of Multan.

Gill had requested to the court to register a case against Rehman for allegedly committing blasphemy.

The petition claims that Rehman had committed blasphemy while speaking on a news channel two years ago.

In Nov 2010, Rehman had submitted a bill to the National Assembly Secretariat seeking an end to the death penalty under the existing blasphemy laws.

Later in Feb 2011, the then prime minister, Yousuf Raza Gilani, had categorically stated that the government had no intention to amend the law.

After Gilani’s rejection, Rehman had told AFP she had “no option” but to abide by the decision after the premier had ruled out any discussion.

In Nov 2011, Rehman was appointed Pakistan’s ambassador to the US after Husain Haqqani had tendered his resignation over the memogate controversy.

Blasphemy is an extremely sensitive subject in Pakistan, where 97 per cent of the 180 million population are Muslims, and allegations of desecrating the Holy Quran or insulting Islam often provoke public fury.

Please expound on that more, I couldn't understand the argument properly !

If somebody does something you see as corrupt that he or she justifies as acceptable in Islam then you can be slapped with a blasphemy charge for pursuing it regardless of the anti-corruption laws on the books, yes?

By the way, this situation is referred to as a "Catch-22".

I believe you should congratulate yourself since the dictator who imposed those laws on us was supported by the United States-just so that the Soviet war could be won with 4 Million Afghan nationals killed. Now with the Wahabis around repealing that rubbish is the most difficult and challenging task in the history of Pakistan. At least one good man (Bhatti) lost his life over it and another corrupt (but in the case of that cursed law correct) was murdered over it. I don't think your leaders remembered the blasphemy law then nor do they remember now that Usama bin Ladin was once called to the embassy of US in Karachi.

I thought the b-law dated back to colonial times? Nevertheless, the Chinese say that if you give a man a fish you've fed him for a day, if you teach him to fish you feed him for life - but they don't say you are responsible for every choice he makes in that life. It was the ISI, not the USA, that decided where almost all the equipment purchased with U.S. money went and Zia chose that the Islamic extremists and the atomic bomb program were to receive most of it. Where and how do you draw the line where U.S. responsibility ends and Pakistani responsibility begins?

.
I think what needs to happen is this:

The accuser will be charged with Blasphemy if he/she abuses the Blasphemy Law by using it to settle political vendettas, or persona feuds, etc.

Zardari shouldn't have ever made her ambassador in USA specially when their was already anger against her but no body can be killed for only saying he want to end this law Islamic ally for this you can't be killed

She's her own worst enemy. Consider how she justified 26/11 by citing Pakistan's defeat by India in 1971, the implication being that Pakistan is always justified, now and forever, when it sponsors or carries out terrorism against innocent Indians and Jews.

but no body can be killed for only saying he want to end this law Islamic ally for this you can't be killed
Do not confuse descriptions of the world as you want it to be with the world as it is. The worthy Governor Taseer was killed for wanting to end at least the harsh misuse of the blasphemy law and a large fraction of Pakistan's populace and intelligentsia cheers his demise and supports the murderer. This is Islam as it is in Pakistan. If you want to change it you have to do more than pronounce empty platitudes, yes?

A law is properly characterized as "black" when misused against its intent it becomes an instrument of oppression.

How can you logically claim that "no body can be killed for only saying he want to end this law" while also maintaining that Taseer was properly killed because when he called it "black" he was criticizing a law "based on the Quran and Sunnah"?

The law is not based on the Qur'an or the Sunnah.
