What's new

Pakistani Air Force Chief rolls out F-16 to bombs Taliban himself.

To think that other soldiers are not braves would be foolish, anyone who joins armed forces knows what he is getting in to. Bravery does not mean foolish bravado, by your logic would you say COA is not brave because he is not going to gun fights with Taliban? or that CNS should be driving a gun/missile boat in a marine conflict?

There is a position of every role, and every role should perform in its right position.

Our soldiers aren't afraid of death all the way from our Jawans to our generals. They welcome death with a smile.

.
Oh bhai you are expecting talibun to take on f-16? O
Yaar the situation can go from a safe environment to a catastrophic failure. The jet could experience mechanical failure or a Stinger or Anza could poke out of the mountains to greet the Air Chief of staff

.
This is strange,

He is a general rank officer, and they are suppose to command, not fight.

Bai I think you misunderstood me. I clearly stated that all of soldiers are ready to die willingly. I did not question their bravery or valor in my response or did I call the Air Chief of Staff a coward for fighting in a jet. He is doing what he was taught and trained to do.

This is not bravery, this is stupidity of highest order combined with unprofessionalism. Generally incompetent people promoted to next level keep going back to their previous roles where they can excel, competent people want and try to do things beyond their current position, not below their current position. How many of the people defending this behaviour ever enjoy doing a lesser role at their jobs?

but if you check the first pik closely then you can see ACM is also carrying a sidearm
That,s a standard procedure before going to any mission in a enemy area.So if you eject in a enemy area on ground you can fight and defend yourself. It,s called fighting till the last drop of your blood and GDP pilots are trained to do so.

.
correct maybe 20/30 years ago, not now. If that is the only thing he can do or enjoys doing then he does not deserve to be ACM. Leaders fight with their brains, their skills and experience, they don't engage in fights themselves.

Amazing. PAF is does not make the enemy cower for nothing.

The people expressing shock over this, remember this is the Muslim tradition. All the battles the Prophet led, he participated in them himself and had the scars to prove it too.

This builds up morale. The leader is not just asking you to risk your life but is ready to risk his own too.

Instead of dual weilding and firing blindly in all directions, you should have done some research on the topic which you are talking about. Rommel, had a reputation of leading from the front and by your logic, he becomes incompetent, stupid and unprofessional.

There were no F16s and jets at that time. Now, tactics are changed. He is supposed to command not fight.
Now, only fool will send Base commander or Chief in front line battle. Now, it's like if you lose him in front line , you lose half war and it has 99% chance due to change in technology, GPS system and laser guided missile with pin point precision. It is brain, tactics and technology which wins wars.
Read the documentary of Israel arab war . How tiny Israel won from mighty arab.

Anyway, as PAF flying jets has no threat from taliban, they just sent our aircheif for moral boosting of nation. Taliban has no such system to destroy F16s. In this particular case with no threat, there is no harm to send aircheif for some practice on talibastards! !

Now that we're on the same page, it's vital for a commander to be on the frontline with his troops. Engaging in the frontline gives the Air Marshall a chance to personally see the the situation on the ground and adjust accordingly. There's a famous saying by Sun Tzu, "If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle." Operating from the front provides the commander an opportunity to know his troops weakness and improve upon them instead of learning through a defeat. Sitting behind a desk and commanding bring the argument of Theoretical vs practical goals. Without knowing your troops abilities, tasks on paper which look achievable may look out of the question for your soldiers. And vice versa. Being on the same page with your soldiers is vital to a outcome. Commanders fighting on the front is quiet a common precedent: Rommel, Montgomery, Nur Khan. Nevertheless, you have your view regarding the role of a commander and I have mine, however either way the ultimate goal for a commander is to ensure victory and defend his nation.

Acts like these are usually symbolic, of course the ACM will not be at the top of his game at this age and he definitely took a big risk, any other viper pilot could have done this. However i believe this was done to make a statement, or several statements in fact,

1. This is how serious we are to eliminate the terrorist scum.
2. Pakistan army will fight till the last man to do it.
3. Our Generals do not throw men into battle, they lead them in it.
4. To give a shut up call to the army haters who say that our General sit in the comfort of their offices and let
the soldiers die in battle.

Lets be real, what did the ACM have to prove? He is already at the highest rank he can be from where he will retire shortly, he does not need to score points for a promotion. There is nothing wrong about what he did. History proves that our Generals fought on the front lines along with their troops. If i remember correctly i read somewhere that ACM Noor Khan also used to fly CAPs and Recon sorties.

This is not stupidity , this is taking a risk to boost morale and fighting spirit
