ISLAMABAD - Afghan Ambassador Mohammad Omar Daudzai and Saudi Arabia’s top most military commander held separate meetings with the country’s army leadership on Wednesday. In his meeting with the Afghan envoy, Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Pervez Kayani cautioned the Afghan puppet government against continuation of baseless allegations against the ISI of supporting terrorists in Afghanistan and said it would have a deep negative impact on relations between Islamabad and Kabul. He also made known Pakistan’s concerns over the recently concluded ‘Afghanistan-India Strategic Partnership Pact’ to the Afghan ambassador, who called on him at his office in Rawalpindi on Wednesday.

The Afghan ambassador also had an important meeting with Foreign Secretary Salman Bashir at the Foreign Office on Tuesday and in that meeting too the country’s top diplomat expressed serious concerns over the strategic partnership agreement between Kabul and New Delhi. “The Afghan envoy’s meetings with General Kayani and Foreign Secretary Salman Bashir were part of Kabul’s efforts to do away with prevailing tensions in relations between Islamabad and Kabul”, said a senior Pakistani official. Meanwhile, Prince Lieutenant General (Staff) Khalid Bin Bandar Bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud, Commander Royal Saudi Land Forces also called on General Kayani at the General Headquarters. Lt Gen Khalid also called on General Khalid Shameem Wynne. A security official seeking anonymity said the senior Saudi military commander deliberated upon the current row between Islamabad and Washington during his meetings with the top Pakistani army officials.

. . . .
i trust he got a good dressing-down session......

should have been done months ago when Afghan terrorists attacked not just military but also civilian locations in Bajaur, a pregnant woman and her child being among the victims

i think we just need to accept that until things on the border get better, they could get worse.....best to just keep on high state of alert and vigil, to thwart any incident waged by the enemies of Pakistan Nation.

Now, I hear that general sahab himself is a puppet of the US, so who's going listen to him?

I think instead of using your creative mind to think whatever you want either provide some proof of your mindful thought or stay quite . if he was puppet then US wont be crying all over the world to make Pakistan Army do what they want .. .. if you dont have anything constructive to add then dont add anything.

. .
I can feel his anger.....wait for the US withdrawal and Karzai wouldn't even know what hit em.

A day late and a dollar short, as usual.

Pakistan needs to be much more proactive in positioning itself at the table if it is to safeguard its national interests than this, and in a more sustained fashion.

ISLAMABAD: US special envoy to Afghanistan and Pakistan Marc Grossman on Thursday arrived in Pakistan for talks with the country’s top political and military leadership.

Grossman held an important meeting with Pakistan’s army chief General Ashfaq Pervez Kayani. The two discussed US concerns about the Haqqani network and other security issues, DawnNews reported.

During the meeting, Kayani told Grossman that Afghanistan’s soil was being used against Pakistan. He made it clear to the US envoy that Pakistan would not tolerate cross-border attacks from Afghanistan any longer.

The army chief also laid stress on better bilateral ties based on mutual cooperation.

The general said Pakistan was taking steps to halt the movement of terrorists in the Pak-Afghan border area.

He also urged a stepped up role for the trilateral commission. The commission should be provided with more intelligence sharing to curb terrorism, he added.

Mr Grossman, during the meeting, said that the strains in relation between the two allies were temporary and that the two countries needed to think of a way forward.

He said that Pakistan and other countries in the region were facing terror threats and that the US wanted better ties with Pakistan.

Mr Grossman also held meetings with Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani and Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar.

Does that include drones attacks too?? Or is this 'strict' warning meant to intimidate sober afghanis on the border only.

. . .
this excludes drone attacks me thinks, they most probably occur in accordance with ISI.

What he meant IMO was that cross border attacks by Taliban and by NATO/ISAF will not be tolerated.
