Pakistan captain Azhar Ali chose to bat again on a slow Sharjah surface against West Indies. Pakistan went in with the same XI that came out trumps by 111 runs via the Duckworth-Lewis method in the first ODI on Friday.

"The surface is good, it will take the batsmen some time to settle, but there are plenty of runs on offer," Azhar said at the toss. "The ball will keep low and may not turn much later which will make batting later on difficult."

West Indies were "forced into a change" with Shannon Gabriel pulling up with a sore neck. Fast bowler Alzarri Joseph, who had played a Test against India last month, was brought in for his ODI debut as like-for-like replacement. West Indies chose to stick with the same batting order despite their abject performance in the series opener.

"In the last game, there were a few boundaries on the first and last balls, so we need to control that," West Indies captain Jason Holder said. "We need to be a little bit more assertive and show more intent. It is up to each and every individual to work with their game plans."

BABAR AZAM HITS SECOND CONSECUTIVE CENTURY AS PAKISTAN POST 337

Sharjah: Pakistan have given West Indies a stiff target of 338 runs in the 2nd ODI match courtesy fine batting from the batsmen who made full use of good batting conditions after Pakistan won the toss and decided to bat first.

Coming at one down Babar Azam scored his second straight century. His ton came off just 111 balls as he played a well placed innings. Babar Azam is going through a purple patch off late and is slowly cementing his place in the side. He is the 10th Pakistani to score consecutive hundred in one day international matches.

West Indies suffered as a result of street smart cricket from Pakistani duo Babar Azam (123) and Shoaib Malik (90) which meant that Pakistan were in a commanding position in the second ODI. Their was a massive 169 runs partnership between the two middle order players after the openers were dismissed early.

Wicket keeper batsman Sarfraz Ahmed scored a quick half century towards the end of the innings and kept the momentum going for Pakistan. He remained not out on 60 runs off 47 balls.

Both Babar and Malik got Pakistan out of a precarious situation as they lost their openers in quick succession. Malik clearly took the attack to the Windies spinners and especially Suliemann Benn by scoring at more than run a ball and hitting six massive sixes. Unfortunately he missed out on a well deserved century and was dismissed for 90 runs off 84 balls by Sunil Narine.

The Pakistani openers Azhar Ali and Sharjeel Khan both went back to the pavilion after Pakistan got off to a brisk start in the second ODI.

Pakistan were 40/0 in the 5th over but in the space of three deliveries both the batsmen were sent packing. Azhar Ali was dismissed by Jason Holder for 9 while Sharjeel Khan handed his wicket to Joseph who is making his debut today.

Earlier Pakistan captain Azhar Ali won the toss and opted to bat in the second day-night international against the West Indies in Sharjah on Sunday.

Pakistan kept the same eleven which won the first match — in Sharjah on Friday — by 111 runs while the West Indies brought in fast bowler Alzarri Joseph for unfit Shannon Gabriel.

The 19-year-old Joseph is making his one-day debut.

The final match is in Abu Dhabi on October 5.

A well deserved win and nice victory by all Team , Wahab bagged in some nice wickets by end of game and few extra change

I have noticed the West Indies players have now finally started to adapt to the Skill level of Pakistani bowling and they managed to put a decent 273 fight in this game still a loss but the last match should be a entertaining match

I really want to like Babar Azam, he is a sound batsmen, the type of which Pakistan as lacked for some time.

But the fact that he is Umar\Kamran Akmal's cousin somewhat annoys me. Is there such a lack of talent in Pakistan that we have to keep selecting from this tree?

Sharjeel is good but he gets out too early. He averages around 27. He should try to make it in the 40s or mid 30s.

It was a good performance, but too many dropped catches. This team will get killed when they go to Australia. They have to start getting rid of Azhar Ali and Mohammad Rizwan and add player like Umar Akmal, Khalid Latif, and Fakhar Zaman. Although Shoaib Malik did good today, I am unimpressed. Anyways, congratulations on the victory.

there is big pressure on Azhar Ali, need to perform to keep his place in the team, but i guess either he of shoib has to bee i the team there is no room for both.
But over all good performance WI are a good side may be the conditions also played their part but still good performance and moral booster before a tough series against Austria and NZ .
another important factor is that new coach Aurther is selecting good teams and team combination is good.
