HAGUE: Prime Minister Pakistan Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif said today that he informed US secretary of state John Kerry of Pakistan’s desire to use a third party to resolve the Kashmir dispute with India.

PM said this while meeting with reporters following his meeting with US Secretary of State John Kerry on the sidelines of the Nuclear Security Summit.

“The Kashmir issue should be resolved. India is unwilling to use a third party to resolve the issue.” Prime Minister Sharif said the US needs to play a role in normalising relations in the region.

Prime Minister Sharif also appreciated the US policy of stopping drone attacks in the tribal areas of the country.

“The policy of restraint adopted by the US should continue” he said.

Earlier during the meeting Pak-US relations were discussed. Mr. Kerry told Prime Minister Sharif that the United States will continue to work with Pakistan for the elimination of terrorism.

The US Secretary State also assured the Pakistani prime minister of cooperation to over energy needs.

Speaking to the media following their meeting, John Kerry said the two countries were “deeply engaged.” “We have great confidence in Pakistan’s nuclear security,” Kerry told reporters.

"We have said somebody else can also help us in resolving the issue. But India is also not in agreement on that. So how can talks proceed? How can such issues be solved?

I said this is for the US also to think. When you tell us that normal relations should be there, we understand that but your role comes in also. If we cannot solve an issue with India bilaterally, a third power should be there to play a role in moving the dialogue forward," Sharif said.

This is not the first time that Pakistan has sought US intervention in solving the Kashmir issue.
Ahead of his meeting with US President Barack Obama in October last year, Sharif had sought US intervention to settle the Kashmir issue.

Pakistan need to be stronger to involve US in the issue.

At this moment, India will simply say no to it. Either India must be put in a lot of pain and the we need strong economy to put a diplomatic muscle behind it. India will never talk on Kashmir unless its pushed in a corner.

Its an unjust occupation but the status quo on Kashmir will remain until Kashmiris and Pakistanis become strong than they are now.

Thrid party is Kashmirs it self.
I wonder, which other third party does Nawaz Sharif have in mind or again he's being misguided by his flag bearers.
When Musharraf was close to gift him Kashmir, he wasted it in exchange for a photo shoot with Bil Clinton.

Pakistan need to be stronger to involve US in the issue.
Do you trust US?

And the third parties should be both China and russia.

Why not solve the kashmir problem all for once?

This has been said hundred times by every Pakistani leader but it will make no difference. Every Indian soldier is on every Kashmiri, they won't let that happen, they know they will loose

Won't make a difference either. China will support Pakistan and Russia will support India.

India will never agree to any third party mediation.

1) Because India is not a kid that need an 'uncle' to hold her hand while crossing a road or blowing her nose.
2) It directly flies in the face of treaty signed by India and Pakistan, pledging not to involve third parties to mediate and resolving all issues bilaterally.
3) What good does giving any concession to Pakistan on Kashmir issue do for India. Afterall being a status quo power its not Indians who want anything from Pakistan but vice versa.

Both countries have their own issues, Russia in its western front with the post Soviet break up countries and China with its SCS claims. Russia would simply ignore the whole thing to begin with, while if China brings in the Kashmir issue then India will simply raise the SCS issue, and lets face it there is a whole bunch of countries that are involved in the SCS regarding area dispute.

Make LoC the official border, but allow Kashmiris to have visa free travel from J&K to AK/GB so they can meet their relatives.

That will be the only viable solution that would be agreeable to moderate/majority section of Indian community(Kashmirs included).

:usflag:The US always looks out for Pakistans interests. It will do so this time too.:usflag::usflag::pakistan::pakistan:

US offered you F-35 and you are telling us that US look out for Pakistani interest... US take fuel from Pakistan and gift it you in Afghanistan and still you fail to recognize, who's interest US keep close to his heart, 90% of US aid for northern alliance goes to RAW and still your interest is not served, you have free passage to Pakistan from US controlled Afghanistan and you don't feel obliged!
Even longer list can be made to prove your lies....

Hold a plebiscite in Kashmir, if you are so confident of your solution.

Hold a plebiscite in Kashmir, if you are so confident of your solution.

1)Go ahead withdraw all Pakistani forces and Pakistani citizen from P.OK and Gilgit Baltistan...hand over entire Kashmir to Indian authorities, as was the UN prerequisites for the UN mandated plebiscite.

2) Get back the Kashmiri territories you gifted to appease China.

and then we can talk plebiscite.
