Before being super impressed by Afghanistan please remember the match had English Premiere League (cricket) scouts at the match and the groundsmen had done all that they could to produce the flattest wicket possible. Afghan batsmen interested in getting picked up by the scouts went out guns blazing and they shined in glory till it worked -- until it didn't.

PCB has for long been trying to launch Afghan cricket so they gave them all the goodies that normally you won't find elsewhere. The match was held at the old Sharjah Stadium too, which has now been swarmed with Sharjah's growing industrial area, which is semi-Afghan slum area too. So there was maximum support for them too.

Pakistan showed their experience in the run chase. Misbah and Yunus are world class batsmen who showed Afghans how to pace their innings. Afghans started the match as if it was T20, which is down to inexperince of one day cricket. Afghanistan could have done so much better. 30-40 runs short due to their inexperience I think. It was a great match overall with plenty of passion and support for both teams. ICC should take notice that Asian teams are passionate and bring something unique to Cricket which Aussies and the English can't bring. Well done to Pakistan for agreeing to play Afghanistan and good luck vs England.

^ The Afghan batsmen focus seemed to be on hitting the big hits which is entertaining but very risky. As you said this is due to inexperience in ODI's but really one has to play more calmlyr in ODI's. Afg hit six 6's whilst Pak had 2. In contrast Pak had twenty eight 4's and Afg had fifteen. I think that this just sums up the mentality of the two batsmen of the two teams. Anyways there is a lot of potential in the Afghan team. They just need experiance and right guidance.

That's what we are so much thankful of Pakistan why cannot we just take every other matter like this? does it mean our politicians are so f**cked up?

Yeah Football is our national sport and we had almost the SAFF cup for ourselves but there was an Indian-Singapore nationality referee Sukhbir Singh who for an off-side gave the goal keeper a red card and a penalty which turned the game into India's favor but after signing a petition against him to Singapore Football Federation they suspended him for 3 years and fined him 20 grands.

Inshallah next SAFF cup will be ours!
