It is mismanagement and some will deny it like it never happened....It is a blunder all to well known....Take for example Lahore gets flooded every yr....and CM has been CM for about 7 yrs now and he hasnt got a single brain cell that tells him fix the bloody drainage!

Rich and upper middle class never use it but yes common man who prefer bikes and 2 wheelers or families can use it conveniently. This trend is more familiar in developing countries mostly where affluent people are shy of using metros ditto is the case in Delhi

Yes ...Hence, now they have made it they should make a program to make the metro a trend and make people WANT TO USE IT...But if it instead being used to cultivate bacteria when it rains, I am not sure how many would be attracted to it!

Pakistan might be having more pressing issues calling for govt attention but this is same for all developing countries like as govt are found sinfully lacking in intend to pump more money in health and education sector

Well, yes ....its called priorities...and 1 part of me is sure that many who sit in parliament just are brain dead....or dont have the expertise in the area they are "leading"

Common EVERYDAY Pakistani includes my bros and sisters deprived of education coz it is termed welfare...But we have all the money in the world to choose the most expensive metro which doesnt even live up to its price!

we don't have the money for metro either, Foreign investors do.

They build it as long term investment.

This is the "alternative" way for infrastructure development. you invite investors to build and even operate and recover their investment in 20-25 years.

Nawaz Sharif started this back in the 90s with S Korean investment in the motorway.

That same motorway is now worth 100 times more today as part of Pakistan's assets.

Some of educated class people are too biased (or in some cases too dumb) to figure the difference between investments and expenditure

Fair enough so we picked those who were charging us the most and didnt have a drainage system? Who was the main planner again?

That was good coz so far it hasnt broken down in its 1st week!

Hasnt been found without a drainage system altogether!

Having polio virus in our country should have made us think of the drainage first before everything else! It is all about priorities and management!

These so called rich liberals do not want gov to build infrastructure project. They will cry and cry and weep and weep.

None of these chauffeur driven spoiled brats will realize that gov spends 1000s more on maintaining and subsidizing roads too that are used by the car owners.

But heavens would fall if the same gov invites a foreign investor to build and operator a public infrastructure project.

I am glad you sort of realized the investment benefits for motorway.

Same applies to metro bus in Lahore, metro rail, and Pindi metro bus.

They all are investments by foreign entities.

Water drainage is an issue, especially during the very first season. As there is no other way to "test" water drainage until the first rains.

Now if the same issue props up in every rainy season, then you may have a point.

But you gotta let it go during the first season.

Not many are against the METRO but against the EXPENSIVE METRO

Same applies to metro bus in Lahore, metro rail, and Pindi metro bus.

Same doesnt apply...neither is the govt transparent in where and why it cost soo much nor it is corruption free ....

They all are investments by foreign entities.

At the expense of Pakistani blood is not something to cheer!

It all started with S korean investment in Pakistan's motorway system back in the early 90s.

When NS was booted out shortly (due to shenanigans and long marches of PPP), S koreans were kicked out as well and Truks were brought in by PPP.

However Turks back then didn't have strong enough finanacials to do as good of job as S koreans.

Our problems is that we have too many dharna minded anarchists in our country who at every step put trash and $hit on such important projects.

It seems metro stations don't have toilets. If there were toilets there was sewerage system automatically. Being modern doesn't mean we don't excrete. Personally i feel wish i don't excrete. Jaidi says in 4500 AD human won't excrete by digesting completely through genetic engineering.
