ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Friday suspended Pakistan’s visa abolition agreement with Kuwait, said a spokesman for the Ministry of Interior. The measure came in the backdrop of difficulties faced by Pakistani government officials during their travel to Kuwait.

The spokesman quoted the interior minister saying: “Despite the accord with Kuwait, Pakistani government officials holding blue and diplomatic passports were still required to get visa for travelling to Kuwait which was against the spirit of the agreement.”

Pakistan and Kuwait had signed the agreement for holders of diplomatic, special and official passports in November 2013. However, the agreement came into effect in August 2014.

“Such visa regimes and agreements are meant to ease travelling of the government officials and diplomats. An agreement cannot last which is not reciprocated,” remarked Nisar.

Ch. Nisar is the only person with a small shred of dignity in PMLN. I hope that ganja brothers move to mars so Pakistanis can live in peace.

Kuwait has always had biased policy against pakistan so it is about thime that we show them middle finger. I still remember how they treated Pakistanis after kuwait iraq war. I know many families who had businesses there and came back home after Kuwaiti government stole everything from them to compensate for the losses during war.

Good job, Nisar actually showed a bit of spine.

The tide will likely turn within 30-40 years, as Pakistan gets richer and overtakes most Arab nations.

I hope to live to see the day when we rid ourselves the title of Arab salve labour force.

lol, Pakistan don't have to get richer for tide to turn. Oil is running out. They will be riding camels few decades down the road. Even cities like Dubai, without money to pay for slave labour and bailouts from other oil rich states, will be doomed.

All that is rolling because of slave labour and backing from oil rich state. Dubai was going default during 2008 credit crunch. Neighbouring state bail it out with I believe $10 billion grant or loan. Unless UAE start producing something substantial, it will be hard for them to even afford a desalinated water to drink.

As much as we like to believe otherwise, the Arab governments aren't stupid, especially the members that are of the older generation. The gulf governments have realized that they cannot continue on the path they currently are, which is why we're seeing them invest in other industries, in order to create strong industrial areas to offset the decline in oil money. We're also seeing them talk about VATs and alternative energy sources, in order to make sure they have a long term sustainable revenue stream.

My point is that their economies may slow down, but they will still continue to grow. Pakistan will have to (and will) outpace them, in order for Pakistan to have a stronger hand, when dealing with its middle eastern allies.

I firmly believe that the time for Pakistan to become truly independent, without the need for poisonous aid, is almost over; it will end within 3ish decades.
