Pakistan, South Africa sign defence co-operation MOU

Gabriel Dominguez, London - IHS Jane's Defence Weekly

28 March 2017

Pakistan and South Africa signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on 27 March to enhance defence and defence-industrial co-operation, according to statements issued by the governments of both countries.

"The MOU, which establishes a joint defence committee, will pave the way for strengthening and diversifying through formal structures, collaborative programmes, the exchange of information, and the training of officers/soldiers of the armed forces," the South African Department of Defence (DoD) said on its website.

The acquisition of defence equipment as well as co-operation in areas such as research and development, the transfer of technology, co-production, and joint ventures both in the public as well as the private sector, also fall within the domain of the MOU, the DoD added.

South Africa also interested in the purchase of PAC Super Mushshak.
no. we have our own technologies at play in the pipeline. This will be essentially one way traffic.

Mapisa-Nqakula said that South Africa is interested in purchasing fighter jets. “We will further discussions about the purchase of Super Mushtaq jet,” she said.

. The meeting discussed possibility of Collaboration between HIT and M/s DENEL Land Systems and technical support for Fire & Gun Control System being of mutually benefit. Both sides also agreed to enhance collaboration between PAC Kamra and M/s DENEL Aviation for which interaction have already been established. Pakistan offered facilities for construction of commercial as well as Naval Vessels at Karachi Shipyard and Engineering Works.

While Pak is also lookin at a large number of SPGs, specially truck mounted guns like G series,Nora etc.

Both of which are in consideration and Nora already being field tested (solid news from serbian sources).

While SA Darter BVRs have been talk of the town for long.
That minister is clueless as usual. There is absolutely no interest in purchasing any jet or other planes. This is great news for our industry to start paving way without hinderance from US or Europeans into markets they deliberately kept us from getting into.

So, are you suggesting that the minister didn't have a clue about what deals he discussed with the Pakistanis?

yes, all stupid politicial imbeciles of Zuma clan. Just waiting for vote of no confidence and we relegate him and the guptas to the backwaters. The later are trying to muzzle in as middlemen for any government defence sales. If there is anyone in PDF, avoid these wretched transplanted indians - they are thiefs and crooks.

What if Pakistan can get MI35 upgraded to MI35 Super Hind, wouldn't that be great.
