Pakistan should jointly develop helicopters(attack and utility) with South Africa like Turkey did with Italy.

Currently there is no helicopter industry in Pakistan(even though they are used by all 3 branches of the military and even have civilian use).

Pakistan offered facilities for construction of commercial as well as Naval Vessels at Karachi Shipyard and Engineering Works.

And we will also train South African Army in our Military institutes.

MOU (memorandum of understanding) is not a defence agreement. MOU is an agreement in principal to cooperate in such and such fields. an agreement is specific for a specific project/weapon system etc.

RAWALPINDI: Federal Defence Minister Khwaja Asif and South African Defence and Military Veterans Affairs Minister N.N Mapisa Nqakula on Saturday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on “Defence and Defence Industrial Cooperation”.

On the invitation extended by Asif, Mapisa-Nqakula accompanied by a high-level delegation is visiting Pakistan from March 26-29.

As per the MoU, both countries will establish a Joint Defence Committee to pave the way for strengthening and diversifying through formal structures, collaborative programs, exchange of information and training of the armed forces officers and soldiers.

“We appreciate Pakistan’s defence efforts,” Nqakula said. “The MoU has paved way for military technical agreement between Pakistan and South Africa.”

Acquisition of defence equipment as well as cooperation in research and development (R&D), transfer of technology, and coproduction/joint ventures in public, as well as private sector, also fall within the domain of the MoU.

Both countries agreed to exchange information for efforts to fight terrorism.

“Pakistan has made significant achievements in the war against terrorism,” said Asif.

He further stated that Pakistan’s armed forces successfully destroyed terrorist hideouts and helped displaced families. “Pakistan stands among the countries most actively fighting the war against terrorism,” he said.

During the meeting in Islamabad, Asif said Pakistan is reducing its dependence on purchasing arms and defence weapons on the West. “We are strengthening ties with allies like South Africa.”

Acquisition of defence equipment as well as cooperation in Research and Development (R&D), Transfer of Technology, Co- production or Joint Ventures in public as well as private sectors, also fall within the domain of the MoU.

Mapisa-Nqakula said that South Africa is interested in purchasing fighter jets. “We will further discussions about the purchase of Super Mushtaq jet,” she said.

The South African minister also met Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa at the General Headquarters.

During the meeting, views were exchanged on issues of mutual interest including defence and security cooperation between both the countries and overall regional security situation.

The minister expressed her appreciation for Army’s successes in the elimination of terrorism from Pakistan.

Earlier, on arrival at GHQ, the Defence Minister laid a floral wreath at Yadgar-e-Shuhada.

A contingent of Pakistan Army presented the guard of honour to the visiting dignitary.

This is what PAC will be getting in the signing of Mou with south africa and DENEL Aviation in form of Mechanical Components development so I think PAC is looking to develop attack helicopter if PAC is moving in this Mou with south Africa. I don't know where Pakistan plans to take this but PAC and DENEL Aviation were both parts of the MOU signed so there will be a development of some new airborne toys. This deal could also mean advancement to features of JF-17 and also Pakistan supplying some tech to South Africa so not clear on the specification of MOU.
