Pakistan Sets Eyes on China’s New J-35 Fighter Jet

Very easy to convert a carrier based to a non carrier based

I agree. Your post gave me another idea that may be carrier based version is possibly targeting PLAN while we might, for the sake of argument, will be looking for how PLAAF loves to see it. One thing is apparent that any off the shelf purchase will be based upon the interest of procurement by PLAAF or otherwise, we will be looking at something done on scale of JF-17.

.
...here's what'll happen next:

Someone (e.g., @ziaulislam ) will say, "nothing new, we knew this, old news, etc"

Then @Deino will say: "what the hell is this unreliable news outlet, J-35 is ONLY for domestic use, the export variant is FC-31. Stop sharing unreliable news sources..."

...and then:

9 YouTube videos.

That was bloody funny!

 Indeed my friend, you know me too good already!

However you missed a few more options: A few of the usual suspect will again claim Pakistan will develop a twin engined - at best with two WS-10 or even WS-15 - enlarged JF-17 and then AZM, whatever it will look like. They again won't explain since they blocked the certain most critical members like me but again get into wild-boar modus with different insults and yet another thread is derailed. :taz:

Or Am I wrong?

Otherwise I'm indeed convinced that the J-35 is reserved for the PLAN only but I won't exclude a finalised land-based variant like some sort of FC-31V3 or indeed some sort of J-31. And again I repeat, this is IMO the most likely option for AZM.

What is J 35 ???? China has J 31 and one new 5th Generation jet will appear next week. And Pakistan for sure will get one 5th Generation from China eventually but not happening before 5 years at least.

Nope ... there si no J-31, at least not yet but the J-35 is (most likely) the PLAN's next generation naval fighter based on the FC-31.

And what did I miss when I say a "new 5th Generation jet will appear next week"??

.
Sir I wanted to say that if paf announced of making university etc .. for 5th gen fighter than why buy this off the shelve

Then you have missed a lot of discussion and central idea. I will advise to read Project Azm and understand the difference with the idea at hand.

I fully agree with this!

So why is India producing LCA when it is buying russian 4th generation fighters almost every other year????

Why did Britain produce Eurofights when they are purchasing F-35s????

Please share your wisdom as to why PAF cant purchase the cheapest 5th generation jets it has available while also having its own domestic 5th generation program as the successor to the JF-17?

Interestingly, at-least I can say for myself if I didn't miss a lot; never read anything about FC-31V3. We saw FC-31 V1 & 2 and then there is J-35 as none quotes the same as V3. So most likely, if there is any interest either PLAAF requirements/buildup will result in V3 or we might see FC-31 V2.

.
PAF will have a requirement for 300+ 5th generation fighters over the next 2 decades to replace F-16/JF-17s.

Some of those numbers will be filled by the purchase of the FC-31 the rest will be filled by our own domestic program.

No, I'm sorry if my post was misleading: There was indeed never a V3 - in the same way there was never a V1 and V2, since these are no official designations - but this was long expected as the final service variant of the V2 chosen by the PLAN ... and now exactly this variant turned out to be named J-35.

Corrected my self just wrote next year

Wasn’t J-7 & J-6 also exported to Pakistan?
hmm...the export versions -- i.e., F-7 and F-6 -- of those fighters. Likewise, the export equivalent of the J-35 will likely be the FC-31. The only exception right now is the J-10CE, but the 'E' denotes an export variant of the J-10C.

But not as J-6 or J-7, they were all F-6 and F-7. I know some may call it a hypocritical nitpicking on semantics, but that's exactly the reason why the FC-31 at least for now is only a FC-31 and not the J-31. J-designations are reserved for PLA-operated types.
