Pakistan seeks support for UNSC seat, US Opposes

Pakistan and the Maghreb won the non-permanent seats, it's a welcome development.

then again you guys spend money on developing nukes and missiles rather than the betterment and development of your people because that is your army's policy like it or not your woes are because your strategic policies are controlled by your military and many of your policies have to do with militarism meaning more money for that rather than human development adding on to this had the government be able to act without its hands tied the situation would be much more different in fact Ali Bhutto himself said "even if we have to eat grass" and thats what happening today more nukes less human development while the world moves on and even India moves on you guys are lagging behind and being manhandled by the terrorist proxies you use on India and Afghanistan at the same time by those who you helped in the 80's and 90's in Afghanistan all i can ask you is this was it worth it? because i sure as hell would rather stop crying over Kashmir that no way can be taken back by your country due to lack of a conventional war making ability and now the cement that keeps your security situation together is the nukes i'd rather just accept the status quo and spend more for development of the nation but whatever i do not run your country or decide how things work just my 2 cents and if i have disrespected you or offended you in anyway you have my sincere apologies peace.....

I am always amazed by some of these "permanent apologists of the deep state".

Apparently they have no issues in dissing the country itself, as long as they think they are protecting the "reputation" of some institutes.

Yet another example of that age old saying. Other countries have an army.....

Pak ‘confident’ India voted for it at UNSC poll

Pakistan, which has been elected as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for a two-year term, has voiced “absolute confidence” that India voted in its favour and said it appreciates the gesture. Islamabad, which was elected on Saturday along with Morocco, Guatemala and Togo
for a term beginning on January 1, 2012, had voted for India to be included in the 10-nation non-permanent club last year. New Delhi began its tenure in January this year.

“I am very grateful to him (India’s permanent representative to the UN Hardeep Singh Puri) and I would like to appreciate the reciprocation of India to Pakistan,” Pakistan’s envoy to the UN Abdullah Hussain Haroon said.

“I have absolute confidence that India voted for us,” he later told reporters.

The UNSC voting is done through secret ballot. pti

I hope India voted for Pakistan here.

We don't oppose Pakistan just for the heck of it.

Our issues are limited to its support for terror in India and rearing of terrorists like LET etc.

Other than that, it is just another not so friendly neighbor. It is it's choice to be not friendly, we just want no overt hostility.

frankly i dont know but they must have 'abstained'. anyway its a moot point as PAK is in for a 2-yr term. hope that Indo-Pak play a +ve role for peace in our region of s/asia.

Non-permanent seat barely has any value .. India has one till dec 2011.. what good has it done for us?

I saw on television the Moroccan Ambassador to the United Nations in tears of joy when they announced that Morocco would also get a UNSC non-permanent seat. If it has no value, then why was he so happy that he was in tears. UNSC is no joke especially these days when there are so many discussions regarding Pakistan and our neighbourhood in the UN.

It doesn't have value because anything the non-permanent winner says, has to be cleared by the P-5. That's what makes it useless. I personally am against this chasing of UNSC seat as it shows the relevance of this dead organization. But in our case, what to do? We have a coward rat for our PM, whose decision is not even his.
