I just want to see both brother country in a different league While We are competing with Germany-French-England at international tenders...


There are some special technologies that Noone do not approach to share them with you cause of being a key and extreme technology for the defence of a country. Air Defence Missiles, Radars are also one of them. I strongle believe that Both brother country will go to cooperations more for defence after 2014-15 but Sometimes, I can not wait to see the name of Pakistan as a partner of our critical programs Because When We are launching our domestic air defence prototype missiles against an air target, I want to share my enthusiasm with my brothers in forums. The reason of my effort is just for this...

I understand and Agree with you Cabatli , I think the Turkish Program is a low altitude SAM right ?

I agree that Pakistan should become a part of this program as we Desperately need SAMs !

As far as the Long Rage high Altitude SAMs are concerned ......Just give us a bit of time...:D;) :pakistan:

Pakistan to Test Fire SPADA in 2010
ROME - Pakistan will test-fire next spring the Spada 2000 air defense system it has acquired from MBDA Italia, officials at the Italian firm said.

The test-firing, which will be staged in Pakistan in the first half of 2010, will follow the delivery in February of the first of 10 Spada batteries ordered by Pakistan for 415 million euros ($565.1 million) in 2007.

"We aim to deliver all 10 of the batteries within 36 months of the test-firing, that is to say by 2013," said Antonio Perfetti, CEO of MBDA Italia, which is the Finmeccanica-owned Italian operation within the European missile house MBDA.

Operated by Italy and Spain, each Spada 2000 system features two firing sections, each containing two to four missile launchers, each hosting six Aspide 2000 missiles. The missiles have an intercept range of more than 20 kilometers.

Since the contract became operational in February 2008, MBDA has launched the construction of facilities in Karachi for maintenance on the systems.

The set-up forms part of an offset arrangement on the sale, which Perfetti said had been "important" to winning the contract.

Two facilities are being prepared, one for maintenance of the Spada system and a second for guidance system testing and maintenance of the Aspide missiles, both completed in February.

Training of Pakistani technicians will start this year, while Pakistani military officials visited MBDA in Italy last week to follow progress, part of a cycle of visits.

Perfetti said the Italian military was continuing to act as liaison with the customer. A second MBDA official added that the Italian Air Force had already helped prove the effectiveness of the system in 2005 when it staged eight test-launches at its Salto di Quirra range for visiting Pakistani officials.

The Spada 2000 is an all-weather, day and night, highly automated, air defence system developed by MBDA (formerly Alenia Marconi Systems). The system has quick reaction time and requires very few operators to man the system. The unit can operate independently or can be integrated with national air defence centres. Spada 2000 is in production and in service with Spanish Air Forces.

The system provides air defence missile coverage of 2,000km². Target detection and tracking range is up to 60km and the missiles can intercept crossing and approaching targets to a range of 25km. The kill probability is high, even against highly agile crossing targets. The system can engage up to four targets simultaneously with Aspide missiles.

Spada 2000 is modularised and integrated into sheltered units, which provides a high tactical and strategic mobility. The system consists of a detection centre and either two or four firing sections, each section equipped with two missile launchers. Each missile launcher has six ready-to-fire Aspide 2000 missiles.
Detection centre

The detection centre contains mission planning capability allowing fast and precise effective deployment of the weapons. The centre is fitted in a hardened shelter with an RAC-3D radar installed on a hydraulically operated mast on the roof of the shelter. The shelter houses the system's operating centre, including the voice and data communications suite.

Auxiliary equipment in the centre includes a global positioning system, a north finder, air conditioning and power supplies.
RAC-3D radar

Aspide 2000's radar is the Selex Sistemi Integrati (formerly Alenia Marconi Systems) RAC-3D, which gives three-dimensional volumetric air surveillance, detection and tracking. The system has the capacity to track 100 targets simultaneously within a range of 60km.

The radar is capable of operating in hostile electronic warfare environments and is robust against clutter interference and electronic countermeasures. The radar features emission control, jamming location, random frequency agility and coded waveforms. The radar's erectable antenna is up to 13m in height.

Operations centre

The operations centre is manned by two operators for mission planning, system deployment and management during combat operations. The computer displays the air threat data in 3D coordinates.

The system tracks, identifies and prioritises the targets and assigns the firing sections to the priority targets. The targets can also be assigned to other anti-air weapon systems. The system is able to coordinate up to ten small anti-air weapons deployed within a 10km radius.

The operations centre can be connected to a remote upper level air defence command centre.

Firing section

The firing section consists of the tracking and illumination radar, the control unit and the missile launchers each with six ready-to-fire missiles. The radar carries out target acquisition, tracking and illumination functions for missile guidance.

The control unit is managed by a single operator. The unit controls all the functions from target designation to missile launch and target intercept and operates in manual or automatic mode.

Communications

The communications suite includes the data links between the detection centre and the firing sections and also internal and external secure voice communications.

Missile

The Aspide 2000 missile is an upgraded version of the Aspide surface-to-air missile. The missile is capable of engaging hostile attack aircraft before the aircraft can release airborne standoff weapons. The Aspide 2000 is also capable of intercepting air-launched missiles once launched. The upgraded missile uses an enhanced single-stage rocket motor which provides increased missile speed, higher lateral acceleration and effective range.

The missile is also in service with the Italian Air Force and the Royal Thai Air Force as part of the Oerlikon Contraves Skyguard air defence system.

The high-thrust single-stage solid-propellant rocket motor provides high supersonic speed and high agility to intercept manoeuvring targets. The guidance system is semi-active radar homing.

Also Important are the Capabillities to prtotect forward moving Troops against enemy Helicopters and CAS - Aircrafts, for this Purpose I see need of Improvements on mobile Air Defence Units which can provide Air Defence for armoured groups. I see a great requirement of SPAAG and mobile MANPAD launching Plattforms which can be embded in Air Defence Network.

RBS 70 and ANZA are best for that job

I know RBS-70, Anza, Stinger and Mistral are in Pakistan Army Invertory, but mounting these Missiles on a tracked armoured Vehicle would enhance the Air defence Capabilities of armoured groups. For example turkish Army is using KMS Atilgan to protect armoured Groups against enemy Helicopters or CAS Aircraft and in future also 35 mm SPAAG Platform will be introduced.

ANZA is not capable of detecting enemy aircraft. Example: In a case of war with India, any aircraft coming or returning from the Eastern Border cannot be considered as foe. They could be PAF Planes coming back. RBS70 are effective, but older technology. Pakistan does need a long range high altitude Air Defence System.

Pakistan should immediately buy the HQ-9 SAM system!

Pakistan needs more work on it's SAM capability and arsenal.

China has offered the HQ-9 for export, and Pakistan should take this opportunity to buy it so that our skies can be safe!

Never heard about SAM capabilities of pakistan.
if pakistan has SAM then what type and range


Type I do not know, since I am not a military guy, but I do know One Thing, Your SAM cannot reach to 30,000 Ft. That is very important information, and NATO have used it.
