What's new

Pakistan Purchasing 4 MI35 from Russia. Deal is done

Good deal but what's with this 4 from here and 4 from there deals

Buying so small numbers in many variants is going to be become a logistical nightmare for operation and will also increase the operating cost of having so many variants

Unless Pakistan is doing some strange evaluation with Z10 and Mi 35 in small numbers which again is a big waste of resources

To do evaluation you ask the foreign company to visit pakistan and do evaluation on their product in our own back yard then we decide if we want it

Slightly bizarre

Very happy to hear this news. This is just the beginning and will get more sweet with time. Although 4 is a low number but there is a message behind this purchase that now Russia can sell lethal equipment to Pakistan. Realistically we don't need high number of MI 35. Somewhere around 12-16 is enough because they are more like a special forces chopper. But I do think PAA should increase the number of vipers to atleast 24.

Hi,

Actually a sqdrn strength of 18 will work perfectly---. The thing with this type of helicopter is that once you get used to its UTILITY----it is very difficult to go for something else---and specially---Pakistan's environment is extremely suitable for this aircraft.

It basically is tailor made for what Pakistan needs for its fight against terrorism----.

What weapons we buy for MI 35M
and PA should consider ATAK or MI 28 For heavy dut fight

how is pakistan isolated ??? You seems to be more of indian than pakistani

Pakistan is definitely isolated. Can't you see. Why is it difficult to understand? Only weak, underdeveloped and backward countries like China, USA and Russia are doing business with Pakistan wheras Advanced superpower, hyperpower military giants like india, bangladesh and Afghanistan are forming an alliance against Pakistan. Pakistan is surely doomed.

The 3 Z-10s arrived (In kits - assembled in RWP) as "gifts" for evaluation...

MI-35 E's is a done deal with more follow up orders... Nobody buys just 4 units... Atleast 1 SQD is required.

T-129 isn't a heavy duty chopper ... It's in the same category as cobra....

And for that Vipers have been ordered in a deal worth 1 billion $.

Yes, I agree. Pakistan tend to buy carefully and think twice first but ironically war on terrorism are already over in 12 years ago, I don't see the point we need to get helicopters today, we can use Army, SSG, Rangers, guards, etc, we even won the war without attack helicopters necessary.
The war is not over and will not be over for a long time. The terrain of FATA and Balochistan is not going to suddenly flatten out and become more hospitable, and the chances of Afghanistan stabilizing (even if a peace deal comes to fruition) are slim, because local Taliban commanders opposed to peace deals, Al Qaeda, and ISIS will continue to carry out terrorist attacks stoking ethnic and sectarian tensions.

On the Pakistani side, once the IDP's return, stability will be just as hard to achieve if political and governance reforms don't take place. The inhospitable terrain of FATA will continue to offer plenty of locations for terrorist groups to set up hideouts, and a far greater rapid response force capability will be needed.

Balochistan might simmer at lower levels, and have a lower number of actual terrorists operating there, but its sheer size will require significant numbers of air assets for rapid deployments.

The war against terrorism going forward may not be as high-profile as the days when Nek Mohammed, Baitullah and Hakimullah Mehsud and Mullah FM lorded over terrorist militias numbering thousands that controlled vast tracts of land, but it will become more complex and require us to fight 'smarter'.
