The G3 replacement has been something I have been looking forward to for a long time. This is a very good step forward. Extremely pleased.

i dont think it will be assult rifle! we are not in a position to replace all of our G3 in current situation where we do not have enough money specially keeping in view that the army is quite happy with the G3! G3 is good enough for our needs as it is operatable in vast climatic conditions, perfect for a country like ours with climat conditions of frezing cold n the north to scorching heat of punjab and dusty enviorment of sindh! so all in all G3 is good for the time being!

also we need not spend money in buying an assault rifle when we can produce very nice ones at home!

now i guess the cooperation may include the 155mm artillery guns as the PA is set to standardize 155mm as its main gun and gradually phase out the others so the MoU between POF and turkish firm may also include this deal!

T-129 cooperation agreement did not signed with Pakistan yet but I personelly think that both country is fighting similar problems so The Describtion of arm needs will be similar... Turkey ordered some Cobras to fight with terorism in past. They are really usefull war machines against assymetric threats... PKK terorists in Turkiye say that "Whenever we hear the sound of Cobra's, We try to find a hole to put our head in..."

so Pakistan army will also need much of those machines to fight and defeat threats in your country... As you see above, If Turkey has reached to develop a technology such as Milgem,Tiha,Jdam, War Electronics... That's mean Brother Pakistan will also reach same technological maturity early or late...

and Anyhow, When Turkey started developing T-129 with Italy, Not only Pakistan but also Malaysia and Jordan authorities have met with Turkish authorities to tell their interests about T-129 in "IDEF2007"...

I don't think PA should switch to 5.56 NATO.
Rather they should develop or co-develop a bullpup configuration rifle like the SA80 that fires a larger round - not necessarily the G3's 7.62 round, but something with more range and penetrating power than the 5.56 NATO round.
