What's new

Pakistan officially inducts HQ 9 Air Defence system

Doubt , the already deployed JY-27A was purely for testing , It is gone now

JY-27 is no longer deployed , it was here only for testing , However the PAF operates YLC-2 & YLC-18A Radars which can be networked to provide data to the HQ9 if it isnt already being done

The testing site for JY-27A is empty since 2021 started , only changes at this site are more F-7s getting retired and lined up here in late 2021
That may be because it was simply moved from the testing site to an operational area. Even if the radar is Purchased, we will never know. So either side could be right. I guess the more likely decision comes down to PAFs requirement for such a radar.

General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) visited Army Air Defence Centre Karachi today . On arrival COAS laid floral wreath at Shahuada monument.

According to ISPR, COAS witnessed commissioning of state of the art Chinese origin HQ-9/P HIMADS (High to Medium Air Defence System) into Pakistan Army Air Defence. Lieutenant General Hamood uz Zaman Khan; Commander Army Air Defence Command briefed COAS about strategic weapon system.

Induction of HIMADS will significantly enhance Comprehensive Layered Integrated Air Defence (CLIAD) shield of aerial frontiers of Pakistan as the system is fully integrated through a well-knit Digitised System on its inventory. Capable of intercepting multiple air targets including aircrafts, cruise missiles and Beyond Visual Range Weapons at ranges over 100 kilometres with Single Shot Kill Probability, HQ-9/P is considered as a strategic long range Surface to Air Missile (SAM) with remarkable flexibility and precision.

Speaking at the occasion, COAS said that induction of high-tech systems will make Pakistan’s air defence impenetrable in the emerging threat scenario. Highlighting the criticality of air defence in the overall defence of motherland, COAS said exemplary synergy between Pakistan Air Force and Pakistan Army Air Defence makes country’s air defence impregnable. Pakistan–China strategic partnership and defence collaboration is a factor of stability in the region, COAS remarked.

Senior officials from China were also present on the occasion, the ISPR added.

A good move, since the West are unreliable or duplicitous.

Better work with China to make our own variants.

I heard HQ-9P is comparable to S-300 missile, unless of course if have heard wrong.

It's better then S-300. Specially if we bought the latest version of HQ 9 then it would be way better then S 300.

Good, Good. To be frank I did not know this. Thanks for enlightening me on this matter.

I hope Pakistan does not deploy its air defence systems and radars from open sites. If they are deployed from open sites they are vulnerable to attacks by stand munitions such as cruise missiles. By attack I mean "first strike" to destroy the system. Pakistan should follow the North Korean model. North Korea deploys it air defence assets from heavily fortified underground installations. These are often build into mouintans. Which are mounted on lifts to emerge and again take cover as needed. In other words this makes North Korea's air defence assets extremely difficult to neutralise for standard air to ground munitions.

EASTERN PART ITSNOT POSSIBLE AND THESE RADARS CAN ALSO DETECT THESE CM WITH DISTANCE

Back in 2013 Turkey gave a tender out for long range SAM's, the contest was between S300, HQ9, Patriot Pac3, Eurosam Aster 30.
Turkey tested all 4 systems and HQ9 performed the best. They wanted to buy the Hq 9's but I think China did not want to give
transfer of technology.

1. Turkey requests to transfer technology to aselsan and roketsan.
2. Turkey requires China to purchase and use German chassis.
3. Turkey requires to modify the system to be compatible with NATO system.
It is impossible for China to agree to these conditions.

Did not know about point 2 and 3, these conditions make it iimpossible for China.

and all of IIOJK
Mountains will block the radar waves, especially in the Valley which is a low flat expanse of land surrounded by high snow covered mountains. AWACS are best for this terrain.

Again, from where this story is coming from?

True account is following:

HQ-9 is good but no need to exaggerate.
